Convention backed by Israeli government to propose red lines for prospective MEPs

A conference in Brussels backed by the Israeli government is to push for all European political parties to sign up to “red lines” that declare boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) tactics to be “fundamentally antisemitic”.

The two-day convention, attended by Israel’s minister of Jerusalem affairs, Ze’ev Elkin, will propose a text for prospective MEPs and political parties to sign up to before European elections in May next year.

Lords debate reveals sexually exploited girl ended up becoming accessory to murder

A teenage girl who was being sexually exploited was enlisted by police to collect information about her pimp, which led to her becoming an accessory to murder, a member of the House of Lords has revealed.

In a Lords debate on the use of child spies, peers said 14 minors had been recruited since 2015. Sally Hamwee revealed the case of the 17-year-old, who was “on the edge of care”, and was one of a group of girls the suspect – whom “she thought of as her boyfriend” – had been selling for sex.

Scarlett Johansson reportedly vetoed funding from the Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, for her next film.

The actor is set to play the Pulitzer prize-winning photojournalist Lynsey Addario in a biopic directed by Ridley Scott, but when she found out the initial set of funders included Bin Salman, she rejected his involvement.
