Protests Planned In NYC, Nationwide Tonight To Demand Full Public Release Of Mueller Report

Democrats and other critics of the Trump administration have grown increasingly suspicious that Attorney General William Barr’s four-page summary of the Special Counsel’s 380+ page report on Russia’s 2016 election interference was woefully inadequate at best, and egregiously misleading at worst. The NY Times, Washington Post and NBC News are all reporting that various members of Mueller’s team believe Barr “failed to adequately portray the findings of their inquiry and that they were more troubling for President Trump than Mr. Barr indicated.” Some team members say that Mueller’s findings paint a picture of “a campaign whose members were manipulated by a sophisticated Russian intelligence operation.” [ more › ]

In 2008, routine HPV immunisation of 12 and 13-year-old girls was introduced in schools across the UK. Vaccination has led to far fewer HPV infections, but there has not yet been much published evidence of the impact this has had on cervical disease and cancer.

Italian deputy PM holding gathering of far-right parties including Germany’s AfD next week as he seeks to create bloc of populists

Matteo Salvini, Italy’s deputy prime minister and leader of its far-right League party, will host a gathering of European far-right parties in Milan next week aimed at building an alliance before elections in May.

Salvini is attempting to position himself as the informal leader of Eurosceptic, populist forces in Europe, but it remains unclear whether any kind of formal coalition will work, given policy differences between parties and the tangled web of alliances already at play inside the European parliament.

All over the nation, opinion is turning against the death penalty and in favour of dismantling the machinery of death

When does the execution of a prisoner cross a line and become “cruel and unusual”? In the strange world of the US death penalty, that is an all-important legal question. The US constitution prohibits “cruel and unusual” punishments, but condemned prisoners seeking relief have to prove their executions meet this definition, as opposed to just being “painful”.

This week the US supreme court handed down a ruling that sought to clarify what manner of execution would meet constitutional standards of cruelty and unusualness. The court’s answer? Disembowelling.
