Boris Johnson issues fresh warning against blocking no deal as he reiterates UK will leave in October

Boris Johnson has issued a fresh warning to MPs tempted to try to block a no-deal Brexit, with a senior government official insisting “politicians don’t get to choose which public votes they respect”.

Speaking in Biarritz, where Johnson met the European council president, Donald Tusk, on Sunday, the UK official said Johnson had delivered the message to EU leaders that Brexit cannot be stopped.

Two species to be classed as most at risk after ownership craze fuelled by social media

A trade ban is looming for two endangered otter species after 100 countries voted to increase protections following a social media-fuelled craze for acquiring the mammals as pets.

A majority of parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (Cites) voted to place the smooth-coated otter on the treaty’s most endangered list on Sunday. On Monday, they voted to do the same for the Asian small-clawed otter.

Email sent to immigration judges links to virulently anti-immigrant site full of antisemitic references

The US Department of Justice distributed a morning news briefing to immigration judges that contained a link to a white nationalist website riddled with antisemitic references.

As first identified in a report by BuzzFeed News, the executive office for immigration review (EOIR), a division of the justice department, included a link to a blogpost on the website VDare in the briefing, which was emailed to immigration court employees earlier this week.

In a rust belt region that has become synonymous with industrial decline, following the closure of its once mighty steel mills in the 1970s, the presence of the Chevrolet factory in Lordstown, and its well-paid manufacturing jobs, was particularly important.
