President posted video of House speaker tearing State of the Union address interspersed with clips of Trump lauding honorees

Facebook and Twitter have refused House speaker Nancy Pelosi’s request to remove a video posted by Donald Trump that was misleadingly edited to show her repeatedly tearing a paper copy of his State of the Union address while he was honoring a Tuskegee Airman and other attendees.

“The American people know that the President has no qualms about lying to them – but it is a shame to see Twitter and Facebook, sources of news for millions, do the same,” Drew Hammill, Pelosi’s chief of staff, said on Twitter. “The latest fake video of Speaker Pelosi is deliberately designed to mislead and lie to the American people, and every day that these platforms refuse to take it down is another reminder that they care more about their shareholders’ interests than the public’s interests.”

Trump finalizes plans to open Utah monuments for mining and drilling

Pretend profit and money for Trumps – and murder our future

2894.jpg?width=1200&height=630&quality=8

Lawsuits are pending from groups who have challenged the constitutionality of shrinking Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante

Plans finalized on Thursday for two national monuments in Utah downsized by Donald Trump would ensure that lands previously off-limits to energy development will be open to mining and drilling.

The move comes despite pending lawsuits from conservation, tribal and paleontology groups, who have challenged the constitutionality of the president’s action. The Trump administration slashed the size of Bears Ears national monument by 85% and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monument by nearly half in December 2017, in what represented the largest elimination of public lands protections in US history.

Conservation groups criticized the Trump administration on Thursday for spending time on management plans they believe will become moot when the court sides with their assertion that Trump misused the Antiquities Act to reverse decisions by previous presidents.

Leftwing premier Bodo Ramelow voted out as CDU and FDP politicians ‘break taboo’

Politicians from Germany’s centre-right Christian Democratic Union and Free Democratic parties in the eastern state of Thuringia defied their parties’ supposed avoidance of the far-right on Wednesday by ousting the state’s leftwing premier with the help of votes from the nativist Alternative für Deutschland.

State elections last October had left the outgoing premier, Bodo Ramelow of Die Linke, as the candidate with the strongest mandate but without an absolute majority, even in a coalition with the centre-left Social Democrats and the Green party.
