Description: Isadora Duncan: born in 1877 in San Francisco, raised by a single mother. Dropped out of school at age 10. She took ballet but hated it and quit. She created a new kind of dance, and is now known as one of the pioneers of modern dance, inspired by the art and philosophy of Ancient Greece, the music of classical composers, and the natural world. In her adult life, she became a champion for the women’s rights movement.
