No matter how many apps are available to kids today, summertime fun remains at its core about one thing: cooling off under the blazing sun. As these vintage photos from early 1900s to the 1970s show, nothing compares to the Internet-free experience of jumping into the water and splashing around with your friends. Play on, kids.

Kitty Tatch and Katherine Hazelston were waitresses in Yosemite’s Sentinel Hotel in the 1890s. They danced atop Overhanging Rock at Glacier Point, California for George Fiske’s famous photograph.
A lot of scary stuff is happening at Mizzou following the resignation of their president, Tim Wolfe. There are active threats being posted on Yik Yak and black students are evacuating campus in fear for their lives. PLEASE look at this and spread it. Go on twitter and see the videos and other tweets.
i love this whole angry christians vs. starbucks story that’s happening over the red cups because their entire protest is a trainwreck and a half like. so starbucks doesnt put any christmasy designs on their cups this year, they’re just red, and a couple christians decide that they’re “taking christ out of christmas” but the beautiful thing is they don’t boycott? im used to angry religious folks boycotting things like doritos and public bathrooms and target over the slightest association with Those Darn Liberals but this is an all new level
basically the non-boycotting group is actually encouraging people to go to their local starbucks, order a drink and then tell them their name is “merry christmas”, forcing Those Darn Liberals to associate christmas with their ambiguously festive cups. and its incredible cause ive seen so many facebook posts today from my relatives saying “i never get starbucks but im gonna get a drink every day this month and do this”
starbucks: gets more customers, more product exposure, more social media coverage
