PLEASE LISTEN TO THE YANOMAMI SHAMAN’S MESSAGE – THE PLEA OF THE RAINFOREST! – And discover how we can help Indigenous peoples! | Barbara Crane Navarro

« Hey – Look at me

We see you

We tried to show you

You never bothered to learn our language

You were always looking down

We’ve been warning you since the beginning

The land is alive

This land can’t be owned

This land is us

All of us

You wanted the stones

The Gold

Your shiny things

Titles – Flags – Profits

You called that progress

We tried to teach you

But you’ve always been so greedy

Too primitive – Too savage

To understand

Now you still bring curses over the Yanomami

Illnesses

And once again we are dying because of it

And all indigenous land is being turned into

ashes and mud

Five centuries

You never looked up to discover

what we were holding in place

The sky itself

Your cities can see it

Your crops can see it

Your kids can see it

We can see it in your lungs

Take a deep breath

Open your eyes and look up

Can you finally see it ?

Help the Yanomami hold up the sky »

Rolling Stones were dangerous and vital as ever at Sofi SoFi – Los Angeles Times

This band is performing at the highest octane, capable of startling and exhilarating moments onstage that have created history instead of pandering to it.

For all the decades of dark glamour and staggering excess, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood still walk onstage to that famously modest introduction — “Ladies and gentlemen, the Rolling Stones.” Since the Johnson administration, it’s been the most sacred and reliable compact in rock ’n’ roll.

Mick Jagger performs with the Rolling Stones.

From that klaxon riff of “Start Me Up” to the restless pulse of closer “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” the Stones roared and purred like a well-kept Aston Martin, reaffirming the dangerous pleasures of their catalog today as they did in 1964 and will be in 2064.

If you’re in despair about the world, be grateful for this, at least: We’re alive to see the mastery and vigor that Jagger brings to every stage. Those lithe little hip swings, shirt billowing in the night breeze; that perfectly clipped R&B enunciation on “Beast of Burden.” Don’t believe him when he jokes that “our first gig in San Bernardino was so long ago, some of you might think we’d been dug out of the La Brea Tar Pits.” He can still conjure that simmering lustiness just by shoving a microphone through his waistband…

House rejects GOP effort to fine Atty. Gen. Garland for refusal to turn over Biden audio – Los Angeles Times

The House voted 204-210, with four Republicans joining all Democrats, to halt a Republican resolution that would have imposed the fine, effectively rebuffing the latest effort by GOP lawmakers to assert its enforcement powers — weeks after Biden asserted executive privilege to block the release of the recording.

7 Hot Weather Pet Care Tips by Jenny Perkins

Summers are here in the U.S. which means it is the time for some outside fun. While our dogs love to hit the beach with us, play outside and walk around the block, the soaring temperatures can make it difficult for our dogs to keep themselves cool. Since our furry companions can’t sweat like their humans to regulate their body temperature, we need to take the essential steps to keep our pups safe during the hot weather. Here are seven tips for dog-parents to keep their pooches healthy and happy this summer

Provide Fresh and Cool Water to Your Dog

Our dogs can get dehydrated in the summer which puts them at the risk of heatstroke.  Be sure to provide your furry companion with cold water which is replaced at least every day. If he plays outside, then keep a water bowl in a shaded area and add ice cubes to it whenever you can.

Don’t Leave Your Dog in a Closed Space

Leaving your dog in a car is a bad idea even when you feel that you will be back in a few minutes or the temperature isn’t that hot. Just a couple of minutes in a suffocated car can lead to your dog developing heatstroke, so it is best to leave your pooch at home when you head out.

Prevent Against Fleas and Ticks

Warmer weather is an indication of pesky pests being on the rise which can be dangerous for your pup. Parasites such as ticks and fleas carry the risk of various illnesses so protect your dog against ticks using topical solutions or collars.

Protect Your Dog against the Sun

You may not believe it, but even dogs can get sunburns particularly those with light-colored or short coats; therefore, it is crucial to provide some extra protection in the sun. Consult your veterinarian regarding non-toxic sunscreens that are safe for dogs and apply them before going outside.

Take Steps to Keep Your Dog Shaded

If your dog lives outside the home, then make sure he has shady spots under trees where he can rest or set up a tent or umbrella. Keep his house in a grassy area as concrete retains heat and add a fan to provide fresh air.

Keep the Paws Cool

We may not realize it, but the asphalt pavements outside can get hot during summers; our feet are insulated by shoes whereas our pups have to walk without their paws having any protection. To prevent your pup’s paws from getting burned, try keeping your pet off the asphalt pavements. Also, avoid metal surfaces such as the bed of a truck.

Limit Your Dog’s Exposure to the Sun

Don’t risk your dog by taking him out for walks during the time of the day when the temperature is on the rise. Instead, consider exercising him in the early hours of the morning or the evening when it is cooler outside.

Pejac Returns to London with Two New Urban Artworks for HOPE Project | street art united states

Following the iconic Downside Up on the lampposts of Shoreditch in 2016, renowned street artist Pejac has made a striking return to the streets of London with two new urban artworks. These pieces are part of HOPE, a pioneering print project in collaboration with Avant Arte.

The collaboration follows a month-long residency by Pejac at Make-Ready, Avant Arte’s London-based print studio. This residency provided Pejac with the opportunity to experiment and create within a dedicated space, culminating in the upcoming launch of the HOPE project later this summer.

The first mural, titled ICARUS, is located in Bethnal Green. This piece serves as a metaphor for contemporary life in the big city. Much like the classic fable of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun and fell to his demise, the mural depicts the ambition and burnout many experience in urban environments. It reflects the pressures and aspirations of city life, reminding viewers of the delicate balance between ambition and well-being.

Thousands of Ukrainians in Poland have registered to join new Ukrainian Legion, says foreign minister | Notes From Poland

Polish foreign minister Radosław Sikorski says that “several thousand” Ukrainians living in Poland have registered to join a volunteer military unit that will help Ukraine in its defence against Russian aggression. He has called on other European countries to launch similar initiatives.

In May, Sikorski first announced plans to train a military unit composed of Ukrainians living in Poland. The idea came as Ukraine struggled to recruit and conscript military personnel to sustain its war effort.

On Monday this week, Poland and Ukraine signed a bilateral security agreement, which President Volodymyr Zelensky said “formalised the formation and training of the Ukrainian Legion, a new volunteer military unit, on Polish territory”.
