Taking hostages: Boehner Raises Obstacle to Allowing Immigration Vote – NYTimes.com

“I also suggested to our members today that any immigration reform bill that is going to go into law ought to have a majority of both parties’ support if we’re really serious about making that happen, and so I don’t see any way of bringing an immigration bill to the floor that doesn’t have a majority support of Republicans,” Mr. Boehner said at a news conference after meeting with House Republicans.

Mr. Boehner’s comments, both privately in the closed-door meeting at the Capitol Hill Club and publicly, came as some House Republicans have begun to draw a firm and vocal line in the sand, warning Mr. Boehner that his speakership could be at risk if he tries to force through an immigration bill without the support of his conference.

Nativist Iceman Loses His Cool, Uses Gun Threat Against “Illegal Aliens” | IMAGINE 2050

“It’s important we recognize there’s a reason we have the Second Amendment. There are situations like this where you have a mob and you do need to be able to protect yourself.”

“The Second Amendment is the private property owner’s last resort.”

Those were Kobach’s alarming comments after a peaceful Sunday procession left a trail of shoes at his doorstep symbolizing parents separated from their children as a result of his draconian immigration policies. The crowd that gathered in front of Kobach’s home was made up of community activists and family members, including children, representing thousands of Kansans and others from across the country whose families have been shattered by Kobach’s aggressive attacks on immigrants. Kobach and his family were not home at the time of the demonstration.

Media outlets quickly picked up Kobach’s disturbing threats to shoot peaceful protesters should “one of those members of the mob had tried to break into the house.”

CENSORED NEWS: Oglala President taken to jail by Nebraska lawmen, standing in solidarity at White Clay

Oglala Lakota President Bryan Brewer Sr. is taken to jail by Nebraska lawmen for standing with his people against the liquid genocide of White KKKlay Nebraska. The Sheridan County Sheriff’s office arrested Oglala Sioux Tribe President Bryan Brewer Monday morning in Whiteclay during a protest outside a beer store. Brewer paid a fine and was released Monday afternoon.

President Brewer said today:

Hau, to all my friends and relations. If any of you are trying to contact me, my phone is dead and the charger is in the office. I see a lot of support for what we are doing and I want to say Wopila to all of you. As long as the alcohol does stop we will not stop. I want to say a special thank you to the many people who went into White Clay this morning. We had some that were hurt, but all will be fine. I hope people understand that we are doing this for our children. Our reservation needs a lot of healing, alcohol is destroying our people and our children are suffering. I also want to say a special thank you to the lone councilman who went into White Clay with me, Dan Rodriquez, Wopila.

Jehova’s Witnesses Christians Targeted by Sri Lanka Fascist Group « tamilweek.com/news-features

A group of Christians belonging to the denomination known as Jehova’s Witnesses became the target of the ethno religious fascist organization “Ravana Balaya” (Ravana force)on Sunday June 16th 2013 at Mulleriyawa on the eastern outskirts of Colombo city.

The Ravana Balaya is an extremist organization comprising members of the Buddhist clergy and laity named after the mythological ten headed demon king of ancient Lanka,Ravana.

The Ravana Balaya along with the Bodhu Bala Sena and Sihala Ravaya forms a triumvirate of Ethno Religious fascist organizations unleashing hatred and violence against the religious and racial minorities in Sri Lanka in the name of “Sinhala Buddhism”.

It is widely believed that these organizations are able to indulge in these hate activities because of tacit support extended by the upper echelons of the ruling Rajapaksa government. The benign protection afforded by those at the top has led to a situation where a climate of impunity prevails in regard to transgressions of the law by these organizations.

Top 10 Most Common GMO Foods | Eat Drink Better

Genetically modified zucchini contains a toxic protein that helps make it more resistant to insects. This introduced insecticide, has recently been found in human blood, including that of pregnant women and fetuses. This indicates that some of the insecticide is making its way into our bodies rather than being broken down and excreted.

Food Politics » The Farm Bill farce: 227 amendments

The House of Representatives Rules Committee is dealing with the Farm Bill.  The Committee has posted the relevant documents on its website, so you can judge for yourself how our political system works these days.

It’s hard to know what to make of the amendments—all 227 of them—or which ones are worth attention.  Many deal with SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which the House wants cut to pieces.

Afghanistan to begin peace talks with Taliban in Qatar – Telegraph

The coordinated moves are designed to signal a new phase in the 12-year conflict and a milestone on the road to peace.

However, the challenges ahead were underlined by a suicide bomb only a few miles from where Mr Karzai was speaking, the latest attack in a Taliban campaign to undermine the withdrawal of international forces.

“Our High Peace Council will go to Qatar, they will talk to the Taliban,” Mr Karzai said at a ceremony marking the final handover of security responsibilities from Nato to Afghan forces. He added that he hoped talks would start “as soon as possible”.

The Taliban has repeatedly refused to meet the peace envoys, viewing them as agents of a government controlled by the US.

However, the movement is now formally opening an office in the Qatari capital Doha to facilitate talks.
