Four Reasons Why Egypt Doesn’t Need US Military Aid
Have to agree – deal is designed as warfare welfare for US industry. Besides that who wants to fight an all out war. Egypt has the people to design what defensive weapons it might need in future . Remember that peace is the answer and working on a vibrant Egyptian economy is the best defense!
For more than 30 years, Cairo has received billions of dollars of aid from Washington. Recently, this aid has become a topic of heated discussions, with US government officials threatening to pull the aid over uncertainties over whether or not to label Egypt’s recent uprising as a “coup.” Yet, here are four reasons why US aid to Egypt is here to stay, and why Egypt does not ‘need’ this aid.
1. Egypt Doesn’t Choose Where The Aid Is Spent
Every year, the USA sends Egypt $1.3 billion in military aid, for Egypt’s military to spend on technology and infrastructure of its choice, right? Wrong.
According to a government official, the US government decides exactly which weaponry to send to Egypt. The same government official states that often, Egypt is sent weapons that are not as advanced as those sent to neighboring countries like Israel.
This fact was recently…

The New Brand of Lebanese Threats: I Will Shoot You
What can be said that has not already been said – peace is the answer!
A Separate State of Mind | A Blog by Elie Fares
Things have been calm in Tripoli lately. There have been no mass shootings for Lebanese media not to report. Ramadan had been a more or less safe month on the city and Lebanon as a whole despite some irregularities here and there.
Yet there was something rising to the surface during those days that has apparently become so redundant that the people of that city had become used to: individual shootings.
Two people had a fight or a quarrel in the street? Their natural reaction was to draw weapons at each other. In case weapons were not available on them, their verbal threat to shoot the other person sufficed.
Meanwhile, passerby just passed by.
It’s easy to dismiss Tripoli as something out there in the North which many of you don’t care about.
This “I will shoot you” mentality, however, is not exclusive to there. It’s present in areas and…

David Cameron presents more macho image with fishing and bare-chested photos
Afraid Cameron likes his meat pies and chips too much for such a pose.
(satire?)
David Cameron’s electoral strategy guru Lynton Crosby has reportedly advised the prime minister to present a more macho image in a bid to emulate Russian President Vladimir Putin’s successful attempts at increasing his popularity by presenting himself as a tough man of the people:
As part of the new strategy, the prime minister has given permission for photographs to be released of himself fishing while on holiday in Portugal:
Photographs of Mr Cameron baring his naked upper torso have also been released:
In order to familiarise themselves with the new strategy, Senior Conservative Party strategists have reportedly been studying the following photographs of the Russian President:

Roadster Diner’s Route 66 Burger
When Route 66 could still be driven from California to Chicago, I never, ever saw a burger that big – we ate a bit more sensibly – except for the fries – then. Stay healthy and avoid such food like it is the plague it is!
A Separate State of Mind | A Blog by Elie Fares
It can’t all be all seriousness all the time, right?
I haven’t had a full-blown burger meal in a long time. After all, the 30+ kilos I lost since January need to be maintained somehow.
But I figured I’d let myself some leeway for only one day and try out the new burger at Roadster Diner, introduced for their 15th anniversary.
Disclaimer: I do not pretend to understand meat textures, composition, cooking levels and other culinary details I won’t bother looking up to sound sophisticated.
The new Roadster burger comes with their regular coleslaw salad, which I used to normally switch out for Ceasar salad. It also has a side of crunchy fries with a dip that make the meal worth it from the get-go if you feel like splurging on the calories. I really hope they include this upgrade with other burgers later on or introduce it as an…

Islamist offensive against Christians in Upper Egypt
Harming and oppressing people of other religions brings no honor and certainly offends the one you claim to worship!
As the Islamist-movement is on the defensive in Cairo, their peers in Upper-Egypt are waging an intensified hate campaign these days.
By Alice Tegle, correspondent, EgyptianStreets.com
ASSIUT, EGYPT: “Islamic, Islamic, despite the Christians”, shouted the 10.000 Islamists who were marching down a Christian dominated street in the Nile side city of Assiut last night, Associated Press (AP) reports.
Supervised by an adult, six children were spray painting «Boycott the Christians» and «Pope Tawadros is a dog» on the wall, according to the AP. Christian homes, stores and churches have been marked with red painted crosses.
At least 11 Copts have been killed since Morsi’s toppling by the Military on June 30. Several others have been injured the last month during violent attacks on churches in Asyut, Luxor and al-Minya.
Pleading for protection
As a reaction a coalition of 16 Egyptian rights groups Wednesday expressed «grave concern regarding the increasing sectarian violence…

Sick of Uncle Tom’s & Aunt Tomesia’s
Well said – not all that different in some ways as the union movement – they fought and died for worker’s rights – and membership is now down to nothing compared to 20 years ago. The health benefits, the 40 hour week, workman’s compensation, right to organize, sick pay, overtime pay, minimum wage – they are the ones who got those benefits for everyone, Right on Tess!
There was a time in this country when African-American celebrities weren’t afraid to speak out against injustices of their race. Perhaps because many of them were still feeling the indignities of the Jim Crow era and/or because they truly cared. Jackie Robinson, Nina Simone, Lena Horne, Paul Roebeson, Muhammed Ali, & of course Harry Belafonte, just to name a few. They fearlessly spoke up & participated in social issues not worried about the effect it would have on their career status. Without them & our Black leadership, Dr.King, MalcolmX, & Meadgar Evars, there’s no doubt, African-Americans would have remained second class citizens in the country we built.
This is why I’m baffled today’s’ celebrities are so indifferent to those that paved their way. Don’t they realize if so many had not laid down lives & limbs for them, they wouldn’t have the education or opportunity to have to acquired the…

British “Armada” to show flag to intimidate Spain – Oh what Cameron will do to try and look good for coming elections. Getting fitted for Capt. Hornblower togs?
A rapid reaction force of Royal Navy warships is to visit Gibraltar on its way to exercises in the Mediterranean just as Britain and Spain are locked in a fierce diplomatic row over the future of the territory.
The force of nine vessels, led by the helicopter carrier HMS Illustrious and including two frigates, will sail for the Mediterranean on Monday at the start of a four-month deployment. Three of the ships, including HMS Westminster, will dock at Gibraltar.

Mayor of Upper Nazareth on Mission To Rid City of Arabs – Say What?
(Read this – then close your eyes and substitute in your mind some American mayor of today or long ago making a similar speech – then you might agree that this is nuts! and…)
In an interview on Aug. 5 with Channel 7, Israel’s right-wing news channel, Gapso said, “Upper Nazareth is a Jewish city, and no Arab school will be built there as long as I am mayor. There are alternative solutions. … The main problem is that they want to cause a provocation. It starts with a school, but then they’ll want a mosque and a church. We have to nip it in the bud. … Anyone who wants to live in the Jewish city of Upper Nazareth should consider that he will have to drive or somehow transport his kids to a school somewhere else.”
