This does not please the one whom they claim to worship and follow – it is shameful behavior against the teachings of Islam and all other religions.

Pages and Pages: Jessica’s Unfolding Story – SalaamGarage

Hello, I am Jessica, 23 years old. I’m the oldest of 9 kids. I entered foster care at age 5, with 2 brothers 2 and 3 years younger than me. I can’t quite remember how I was take, only that we were left alone for so many days. Since 1997 I was in 57 different foster homes. I was physically abused in a few foster homes. At some places I stayed, they treated us ugly and verbally abused me. I felt almost like Cinderella minus the prince part and 10 times worse.

Text of President Barack Obama remarks on Egypt

So in the spirit of mutual interest and mutual respect, I want to be clear that America wants to be a partner in the Egyptian people’s pursuit of a better future. And we are guided by our national interest in this long-standing relationship. But our partnership must also advance the principles that we believe in and that so many Egyptians have sacrificed for these last several years, no matter what party or faction they belong to.

So America will work with all those in Egypt and around the world who support a future of stability that rests on a foundation of justice and peace and dignity.

Who Needs Cedars Anyway? Alf Malyoun Mabrouk Gebran Tawk

A Separate State of Mind | A Blog by Elie Fares

Mabrouk former deputee Gebran Tawk, even if a little early. I’m crossing my fingers you’d become a jeddo soon – if you’re not already one. Sorry, I’m not that well-versed in the Tawk family tree.  But I’m willing to learn.

I get you. I really, really do. You love your son. I love your son too – we are all brothers and sisters of this one fine mighty (maybe not) nation. Ok, Cliche season is over now. If it were me, I’d want my precious offspring to have the most kick ass Lebanese wedding that many won’t be invited to, a wedding that would befit their stature and mine (if I had any).

I heard you’ve invited about 3000 people to the wedding in question. You know what they say, go all out or go home. The festivities will last three days as well. Now isn’t that just beautiful. Speaking of…

Afghan Women’s Writing Project | Beauty of Hope

Editor’s note: This poem was inspired by Emily Dickinson’s “Hope” is the thing with feathers / that perches in the soul / and sings the tune without the words / And never stops — at all.

Hope is a bird

With wonderful feathers

Sits on the branches of the soul

And sings the song of how to be alive

It sings when the dream breaks

It sings when the ships overturn

You are at the bottom and

Far away is the beach

At that time it teaches you

How to ride from bottom to top

How to swim to reach the beach

How to rebuild your dream’s broken wings

And to get energy in the form of wind in the tune

To be alive and strong; better than before

And it will continue to sing till you want to listen

Undocumented Asian Students Live Under the Radar | Latina Lista

Undocumented Asian Students Live Under the Radar | Latina Lista.

According to The Pew Research Center, approximately 11 percent of the 11.1 million undocumented immigrants in the United States came from Asian countries. Experts agree these immigrants are facing poverty and criminalization.

“They face a lot of the same issues of other undocumented student’s experience — criminalization, because the U.S immigration system is design where you’re deemed a criminal if you’re undocumented,” says Tracy Buenavista, an Asian-American Studies professor at CSUN. “Criminalization, detention, and the threat of deportation, that’s a stressful thing they have to deal with on an everyday basis. Another barrier they face is poverty; there are a lot of states where you can’t legally be hired.”

Recalls, Market Withdrawals, & Safety Alerts > P&G Voluntarily Recalls Limited Quantity of Dry Pet Food Due to Possible Health Risk

The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) has voluntarily recalled specific lots of dry pet food because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. These lots were distributed in the United States and represent roughly one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) of annual production.
