Yamhill man wounded when he drops loaded gun | OregonLive.com

A 52-year-old man shot and wounded himself when he tried to remove a handgun from a leather holster so he could show the firearm to a friend, according to Yamhill County sheriff’s officials.

The incident took place Sunday afternoon in the 21000 block of Northeast Fairdale Road in Yamhill.

Police said the man, who was not identified, dropped the Colt .45 caliber black powder pistol as he was removing it from a holster. It discharged when it hit the ground.

The bullet entered the man’s abdomen, traveled upward and lodged in his neck. Police could see the bullet protruding from his skin. He was taken to a local hospital, where he had surgery and is listed in good condition.

“We Want A Dark Age”
‘Such is the case with a most curious pair of lawsuits that are being filed by various Christian groups in Kansas’.

‘The groups have filed two lawsuits against the state Board of Education in Kansas, which recently decided to implement a set of science standards in all public schools across the state’.

‘The groups are angry because they feel that their beliefs should be given some consideration in science classes’.

‘One group, the Pacific Justice Institute, says that the teaching of science in all schools would “create a hostile learning environment for those of faith.”

‘The second group, Citizens for Objective Public Education (COPE, Inc.), filed its lawsuit on Sept. 26th, accused that the state’s new standards “will have the effect of causing Kansas public schools to establish and endorse a non-theistic religious worldview” in…

The Republican ‘War On Women’ – A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘GOP adds ‘conscience clause’ to spending bill’

The Last Of The Millenniums

GOP conscience clause

America. Where politicians and employers decide what health care you get based on their moral or religious values.

Now THAT’S American exceptionalism!!

Keep voting teabagger Republican…..Let’s clean up America!!
Washington (CNN) – ‘House Republicans have added a measure aimed at limiting contraceptive coverage to the spending bill coming up for a vote Saturday night, a spokesman for Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kansas, told CNN’.

A senior House leadership aide confirmed that development’.

‘The so-called “conscience clause” would allow employers and insurers to opt out of preventative care for women which they find objectionable on moral or religious grounds. That prominently includes birth control, which most insurers are required to provide for free under current Obamacare rules’.

When An American Nails An Arab Talent Show

A Separate State of Mind | A Blog by Elie Fares

Jennifer Grout is an American who doesn’t know a word of Arabic. Yet she still managed to nail the song “Ba’id Annak” by Um-Kulthum, all while playing the oud.

Many of us have American relatives and we all know exactly how difficult it is for them to learn Arabic. More often than not, their attempts at pronouncing some letters turn into pure entertainment, which makes Jennifer’s achievement even more impressive.

At a time when our TV stations are littered with contestants vying to become stars, Jennifer Grout manages to make a dent. I’m very intrigued as to what she will do next. Even over here, Americans got talent.

VIDEO: Filmpoem “Prayer of Fear” Stuns Egypt · Global Voices

The Egyptian citizen collective Mosireen has been tirelessly documenting the #Jan25 revolution and the events that followed in images and documentaries. One of their very last creations is “Prayer of Fear”, a filmpoem by Mahmoud Ezzat narrated by Mosireen member Salma Said. Between roving and painful memories, the filmpoem stuns with its disarming sincerity and humanity.

…Are we winning?

Or in line for slaughter?

Is the question shameful?

Or is the silence worse?

Should we scavenge the spoils?

Or count the corpses?

Did we open the way?

Or is the path destroyed?…

Tory immigration bill to curb right of appeal against deportation | UK news | theguardian.com

(Shred EU Human Rights, punish children and rip apart families is the by-word for “compassionate” neo-Fascist Tories!)

Sweeping new curbs on the appeal rights of illegal migrants, foreign prisoners and others facing deportation are to be announced by the home secretary.

Theresa May is to tell the Conservative party conference that the appeals of thousands facing deportation can only be heard after they have been put on a plane home unless they face “a risk of irreversible harm”.

The move is to be part of a sweeping new immigration bill, expected to be published next week, designed to create “a hostile environment” to illegal migrants in Britain. It will detail new measures to ensure private landlords check on the immigration status of tenants and curb access to healthcare for illegal migrants.

The home secretary is also expected to cut the number of grounds on which migrants can lodge an appeal against deportation from the current 17 to just four. A right of appeal is expected to exist only where the decision is said to be “complex and fact-specific”.

She is also to confirm that guidance to the courts to limit their use of the “right to family life” article 8 of the European convention on human rights will be included in primary legislation to ensure it cannot be ignored.
