“All it takes is one good man with a gun…..” – ‘Michigan Man Shoots Himself Dead While Showing Girlfriend That Guns Are Safe’

The Last Of The Millenniums

guns in us

WITH children in the home……he drinks and then pulls out his guns to show them off…….

‘Three children, ages 7, 10, and 12, were in the home at the time, but luckily they weren’t hurt and they did not witness the shooting, McCabe said. According to authorities, they weren’t the man’s biological children’.

‘A 36-year-old Michigan man was exercising his Second Amendment right when he shot and killed himself on Sunday. The fatal shooting occurred accidentally while the man attempted to demonstrate gun safety to his girlfriend while intoxicated’.

‘According to Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe, the man had been drinking all day when he explained to his girlfriend that his three handguns were perfectly safe while unloaded. He then placed each gun against his head and pulled the trigger with only one minor issue– the third gun was loaded’.

‘He was pronounced dead at the scene’.

‘Former Vice President Dick Cheney took to Fox News on Monday night to lambaste the Obama administration’s proposed cuts to the military budget’ :

Dick Cheney : “He’d (Obama) much rather spend the money on food stamps than he would on a strong military or support for our troops”.

“Nationwide, in any given month, a total of 900,000 veterans nationwide lived in households that relied on SNAP to provide food for their families in 2011,” the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities wrote in a recent analysis’.

RAISING QUAIL | Little Homestead in the City – the Urban Homestead Journal

WHY QUAIL EGG IS IMPORTANT

Quail eggs are packed with vitamins and minerals. Even with their small size, their nutritional value is three to four times greater than chicken eggs. Quail eggs contain 13 percent proteins compared to 11 percent in chicken eggs. Quail eggs also contain 140 percent of vitamin B1 compared to 50 percent in chicken eggs. In addition, quail eggs provide five times as much iron and potassium. Unlike chicken eggs, quail eggs have not been know to cause allergies or diathesis. Actually they help fight allergy symptoms due to the ovomucoid protein they contain.

Regular consumption of quail eggs helps fight against many diseases. They are a natural combatant against digestive tract disorders such as stomach ulcers. Quail eggs strengthen the immune system, promote memory health, increase brain activity and stabilize the nervous system. They help with anemia by increasing the level of hemoglobin in the body while removing toxins and heavy metals. The Chinese use quail eggs to help treat tuberculosis, asthma, and even diabetes. If you are a sufferer of kidney, liver, or gallbladder stones quail eggs can help prevent and remove these types of stones.

via RAISING QUAIL | Little Homestead in the City – the Urban Homestead Journal.

(Actually, I do not advise this or think it is a good idea but  it illustrates how humans can justify anything we want to do because we can justify anything, or so it seems. Massive raising of quail for meat and eggs in China is one of the contributors of avian influenza there.)

wild’n’whole: Soul lessons from my surf board

: Surrender to and respect Mother Nature

Surfing demands you cultivate the closest connection and deepest respect for Mother Nature. Playing in the face a force like that, that is so life giving and yet so fierce, will change your perspective on the interconnectivity and balance of all things. After that you understand that we alone cannot possibly hold all the power over what happens. So you learn to listen to what life has to reveal to you and follow the path of least resistance in order to discover the path that was intended for you.

You don’t surf for your own glory, you surf because you’re caught up in a great act of nature. You learn there is just no value in forcing. It’s the deepest surrender that gives you the sweetest sense of who you really are. Surfers hand themselves over to the ocean every time they step in the water.

Makes it Pro-Japan Against Outside World! Japan struggles to keep whaling alive | Asia | DW.DE | 26.02.2014

Junichi Sato, the executive director of the Japan branch of Greenpeace, says the argument has been framed in such a way for the domestic audience that Japanese people largely remain silent, even if they do not agree with the “research whaling” program.

“It has become a cultural conflict pitting Japan against outsiders,” he said. “They have made the argument claiming that if you oppose whaling, you oppose Japanese culture. That makes it very difficult for Japanese people to speak out.

No shame, do the time guy! French priest on trial for rape never heard word ‘no’ | News , International | THE DAILY STAR

Since the priest was charged with rape, the woman has been left isolated in a village community in which the priest was a popular figure, judicial sources said. “There are some who are now calling her the priest’s tart,” one said.

Her lawyer added: “Her situation has only made her isolation worse. Religion was her only outlet and she has been cut off from that. She has even had to change her telephone number.”

The priest has acknowledged having sexual relations with women during a spell spent working in New Caledonia, a French overseas territory in the South Pacific.

According to his own interpretation of Catholic doctrine, as a priest he was obliged to be celibate, ie. unmarried, but never took a vow of chastity.

Statement and Q&A at U.S. Embassy Kyiv, Ukraine

QUESTION: So you are talking about the immediate steps for the government in Ukraine. What exactly are you talking about? Is this just the matter of time for the expats to know the situation here? Or is it that you have something planned in mind, to help, to support? Is it just not involving in the political situation? Just economics or is it politics as well?

DEPUTY SECRETARY BURNS: We will provide strong support not only for the revival of the Ukrainian economy, but also support for the political process, which has to begin with the formation of a new multi-party technocratic government. That will help prepare the way for free and fair elections in May, which as you know better than I do, will be very important for the future of this country. We also have an interest in working with our international partners to support the efforts of the new government to try and improve the security situation in this country as well.

On the economic side, the reality is that the new government that will be formed will inherit an economic mess. It’s a reality that Ukraine has always had a great deal of economic potential, but it’s also a reality that its business climate has never matched that potential. That can change. It is possible to realize that potential. It is possible to fight corruption and all the other impediments to realizing that potential. We recognize that that effort will require and deserves support from the friends of Ukraine like the United States, like the European Union, like the IMF. And we’re working quite practically and quite intensively to be ready to provide that support.

The first step, again, is the formation of a new government and an opportunity to sit down with that new government and identify the plans of the new Ukrainian government, their diagnosis of the problem, and then identify specifically what we can do to help. And we’ll be ready to do that along with the EU and the IMF because we recognize the urgency of the situation, we recognize what’s at stake for Ukraine and for the Ukrainian people.

Official: Settlers to operate armed patrols across West Bank | Maan News Agency

Israeli settlers have announced plans to operate armed patrols across the West Bank, a Palestinian official said Wednesday.

Ghassan Daghlas, an official who monitors settlement activity in the northern West Bank, said settlers had announced plans to run patrols of three gunmen on Israeli bypass roads as a form of protection.

Daghlas said that settlers planned to station the first patrol on the road between the illegal Yitzar settlement and the Palestinian city of Nablus.

The decision will have “dangerous consequences” if put in to effect, he said.

Daghlas called on the international community to exert pressure on Israel to prevent the move, which he said would result in “more bloodshed and more attacks on Palestinian properties.”

Why the Plan to Dig a Canal Across Nicaragua Is So Risky – Wired Science

Isn’t this the same guy who wants to build a bridge from Miami to Havana? Kidding – but makes as much sense :> /

Under the agreement, HKND would raise the $40 billion needed to build the canal and would have the right to operate and manage it for up to 100 years before turning it over to Nicaragua. In the meantime, Nicaragua would have a controlling interest in the canal and receive income from it.

But there are many lingering questions. How HKND–apparently the only company to submit a bid–managed to land the deal, isn’t clear, leaving many Nicaraguans frustrated by their government’s lack of transparency. “Normally when you have a major infrastructure project you have to place bids, that is the law,” says Jorge Huete-Pérez, a biologist and president of Nicaraguan Academy of Sciences. “Here they overlooked the law and chose this company that has no experience building infrastructure.”

Exactly where the money to build the canal will come from is another mystery, as is the role, if any, the Chinese government will play. Wang Jing has denied that the government is involved in the project, as have government officials. But some analysts suspect otherwise.
