What is It Like to Die With a Vaccine Preventable Disease? – VAXOPEDIA

The first year or so that this song was out, I thought it had something to do with Sesame Street’s Kermit the Frog, one of my favourite characters, and that the lyrics were “It’s not easy to be green”. Sigh. I wonder how many lyrics I have completely scrambled in my lifetime? Anyway … this song made the charts at #14 in the U.S. and #48 in the UK … I cannot find evidence that it charted in Canada, but did fairly well in a number of countries such as Australia (#2), Belgium (#4), Italy (#11) and Norway (#12). And now, without further ado other than to thank my friend Ellen …

Healthy Food is a Natural Medicine: The Power of Nourishing Your Body – Health & Fitness

So what exactly is health food, and why is it so important? Health food refers to foods that are minimally processed and free from artificial additives, preservatives, and harmful chemicals. These foods are typically rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other essential nutrients that our bodies need to function properly. By choosing to nourish our bodies with these nutrient-dense foods, we can support our immune system, improve our digestion, boost our energy levels, and even prevent chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
One of the key benefits of health food is its ability to reduce inflammation in the body. Inflammation is a natural response to injury or infection, but when it becomes chronic, it can lead to a host of health problems, including autoimmune diseases, digestive issues, and even mental health disorders. By eating a diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods like leafy greens, berries, nuts, and fatty fish, we can help reduce inflammation and support our body’s natural healing processes.
Another important aspect of health food is its impact on gut health. Our gut is home to trillions of bacteria that play a vital role in our digestion, immune function, and even our mood. When we eat a diet high in processed foods and sugar, we disrupt the delicate balance of good and bad bacteria in our gut, leading to digestive issues like bloating, gas, and constipation. By choosing to eat a diet rich in fiber, probiotics, and prebiotics found in fruits, vegetables, and fermented foods, we can support a healthy gut microbiome and improve our overall health.
But perhaps the most exciting aspect of health food is its potential to prevent and even reverse chronic diseases. Studies have shown that a plant-based diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes can not only reduce the risk of developing diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers but can also improve outcomes for those already living with these conditions. By choosing to eat more health foods and less processed junk, we can take control of our health and empower ourselves to live longer, healthier lives…

आशा की किरण / Beacon of Hope – Kaushal Kishore
🌑 🌑 🌑 🌑 🌑 🌑
When a shadow falls, don’t be afraid,
Its darkness proves light hasn’t strayed…
It’s a herald of brilliance drawing near,
A hope-filled beacon, chasing away fear…

US probes nearly 70 suspected human cases of H5N1 bird flu

Nearly 70 poultry workers are being tested for H5N1 bird flu at a chicken farm in Colorado after multiple confirmed cases, state health officials announced on Tuesday.
The Centre for Disease Control (CDC) had previously confirmed four cases and one probable case of the highly pathogenic bird flu at the farm in northeast Colorado, where workers were culling and disposing of infected chickens.
Another 69 workers, all of whom had direct contact with the sick birds, are now being tested after reporting mild symptoms and have been instructed to isolate until their results come back.
Due to extreme heat during the culling operation – around 40 degrees Celsius – workers found it difficult to wear their personal protective equipment, Nirav Shah, principal investigator of the CDC, told reporters this week.
Both those under investigation and the workers who have tested positive for the virus have displayed mild symptoms, including conjunctivitis, fever, chills, and coughing, but none have been hospitalised.
Initial investigations do not indicate the virus has mutated to spread between humans, and the CDC still considers the risk to the public low.

Opinion: How The Fight For Abortion Rights Can Save Democracy | HuffPost Opinion
If Donald Trump is elected, he would most likely ban not only abortion, but also some forms of birth control and assisted fertility treatments like IVF.
As the Republican National Convention is underway in Milwaukee this week, and in the wake of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump tapping JD Vance, with his anti-abortion bonafides, as his running mate, I have never been so clear-eyed that we must consolidate behind the Biden-Harris ticket as our only chance to meet this moment and protect our democracy.
Democrats cannot protect reproductive freedom without having President Joe Biden’s back.
Last Friday, I joined Biden at a rally in Detroit. The president was strong and in command, and clearly articulated why he is the leader this country needs.
Meanwhile, the threat of a second Trump presidency is a five-alarm fire for reproductive freedom and democracy itself. If he wins, Trump is poised to dismantle our democracy and end rights and freedoms we hold dear.

It also created the President’s Board of Advisors for HSIs to increase awareness of opportunities for HSIs, identify best practices, improve STEM offerings, and strengthen recruitment and support.
These entities will, among other things, work to Increase awareness of opportunities for HSIs to take part in federal programs and improve their ability to line up program offerings with economic needs of their local communities and the country at large “especially in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and teaching,” the White House said.

But what if Trump really is a threat to democracy? – Los Angeles Times
…Democrats, and many others besides, are not wrong when they say that Trump is an existential threat to our democracy. How else would you characterize a man who tried to overturn the results of a legitimate election for his own benefit? A man who says he wants to send armed troops onto the streets of America to round up millions of people, to fire tens of thousands of federal workers and replace them with loyalists and to use the power of his office to punish his political enemies?
“In the current climate, however, attacking Trump as a threat to democracy sounds like extreme rhetoric — as it has been at times. But if Biden can no longer prosecute that case against Trump — after spending tens of millions of dollars on ads laying it out — what case does he have?” writes Times columnist Jonah Goldberg.
The idea that Biden and the Democrats should stop telling the truth about a second Trump term because it’s too harsh is absurd. And besides, we already know that Trump and the Republicans aren’t going to stop slinging their own “extreme rhetoric…”
