‘WTF’? Republicans and Summer Lunch Programs for kids – City vs Rural

Cannot write my comment in polite society.

The Last Of The Millenniums

lunch for kids1

Wait a second.

Wasn’t it just a month ago that the Republican Wonk Wizard Paul Ryan was complaining about the lack of work ethic in urban inner cities?

So now the House Republicans want to cut ALL of the money for summer lunch programs in the cities and instead spend it ONLY in rural areas.

So yeah.

WTF?

What this amounts to is rewarding Republicans who are the majority in rural America while punishing urban voters who are a Democrat majority.

And using kids to reward/punish.

Republican family values.

‘I hadn’t heard about it other than in this brief passage tucked away in a Politico article about the House GOP agriculture bill’.

‘But it takes a small program intended provide meals to children in the school lunch program during the summer months and says it can now only be used to benefit kids in “rural areas”.

Footage of Palestinian boys being shot is genuine, says Israeli rights group | World news | theguardian.com

Michaeli said: “The footage is continuous, as you can see from the time stamps.

“It starts just before midday and finishes around three. Taken together it shows that there is a light demonstration with some stoning. Soldiers fire rubber bullets and teargas until the fatal shootings. Then you see the youths get shot and fall.”

Footage shot by CNN of the killings appears to confirm this picture, showing Nadim Nawara throwing stones at one stage close to the building where he was shot and killed, but still at some distance from where witnesses have placed the closest Israeli soldiers.

Whether violence took place earlier or not, Israeli open fire regulations are unequivocal in stating that it is only permissible to use live rounds – or lethal force – against stone-throwers when there is an immediate risk to life.

Neither of the youths was throwing stones when they were killed, and one was walking away from the Israeli position, with his back to soldiers, when he was shot.

The wounds to the two boys and the other who survived appear consistent with small-calibre, high-velocity live rounds, including the described entry and exit wounds and the way the bullets travelled in the body.

Commenting on efforts to cast doubt on accounts of the affair in +972 online magazine, Dahlia Scheindlin, a public opinion analyst in Tel Aviv, attempted to explain recent comments: “Public figures are well aware that the postmodern mindset makes it hard to pin down facts. Throwing out theories, no matter how wild, raises doubts even if far-fetched. Using words inaccurately, or not admitting to one’s actions is another form. Accusing the other side of full-out conspiracy and elaborate fabrications is another.”

Libya government calls on militias to leave capital | News , Middle East | THE DAILY STAR

Libya government calls on militias to leave capital | News , Middle East | THE DAILY STAR.

The Libyan government Thursday urged all militias to withdraw from Tripoli and stay out of politics, after the parliament speaker had called for ex-rebels from Misrata to “protect the capital.”

The cabinet of outgoing Prime Minister Abdallah al-Theni “issued an appeal to the chiefs of all armed brigades in Greater Tripoli” to leave the city and steer clear of politics, Culture Minister Habib Lamine said.

On Sunday, fighters from the powerful Zintan brigades, which supports a renegade general who has launched a campaign against jihadists, attacked the premises of the Islamist-dominated General National Congress, or interim parliament, and set part of it on fire.

In response, GNC speaker Nuri Abou Sahmein called for help from equally powerful ex-rebels from the city of Misrata, who have declared themselves supporters of parliament, to “protect the capital and the institutions of state.”

Earlier Thursday, some elements from the Misrata militias entered a southern district of the capital, giving rise to fears of possible clashes with their Zintani rivals.

The government statement said Abu Sahmein’s decision to call in the Misrata fighters “threatens the security of the city and its inhabitants”.

Left Cincinnati, now Leaving Charlotte – Why believe anything he says? Chiquita in talks with government officials about incentives promises after move to Charlotte – Charlotte Business Journal

“We don’t expect anything that we don’t deserve,” Lonergan said during a session after today’s Chiquita shareholders meeting in the NASCAR Plaza building. Otherwise, the company has “over delivered” on promises to bring Chiquita employees to town as a part of the move, Lonergan says. As a part of the deal, the company plans to bring a total of 400 jobs to Charlotte as a part of the relocation.

“We’re committed to the city,” he adds. The North American headquarters for a merged ChiquitaFyffes would remain in Charlotte, including many of the C-level executives, Lonergan says. David McCann, the Fyffes chairman who will become chief executive of the combined, would also have an office in Charlotte but will be based in Dublin, he says.

‘In an effort to force a vote on increasing sanctions on Iran, the Senate Minority is trying to attach the measure to an otherwise non-controversial bill that would help veterans, immensely’.

‘And, they’re willing to kill the veterans legislation, unless they get their way on making Iran sanctions a part of it’.

‘The Senate Republican caucus is willing to throw veterans under the bus, just so they can run campaign ads’.

‘This is the situation’.

‘Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has introduced an excellent bill to help veterans, which is backed by every major veterans group in the nation, including VoteVets.org, which I represent’.

‘Among the bill’s many benefits, it would improve access to health and dental care for veterans, allowing the VA to open 27 new clinics and medical facilities, expand educational opportunities, reauthorize previous provisions under the VOW to Hire Heroes Act, including job training for veterans, and restore…

Settlers use bulldozers to level Palestinian land near Salfit | Maan News Agency

Occupiers creating “facts” on the ground with IDF assistance – Israeli settlers on Thursday leveled Palestinian land in the village of Kafr ad-Dik west of Salfit, local Palestinian officials said.

Settlers from Alei Zahav and the Bruchin outpost used

bulldozers to level land in an area known locally as Thair Subih.

Witnesses say the settlers were escorted by Israeli military forces.

A day earlier, settlers from Ariel used bulldozers to raze agricultural lands belonging to Palestinian farmers from the Salfit town of Kifl Haris.

A local activist who monitors settlement activities told Ma’an that Ariel settlement is expanding to the West and South and construction work has increased dramatically during the 9-month period of peace negotiations.

Ariel settlement is located 16.5 kilometers east of the green line in the center of the Salfit district, blocking Palestinian development in the area.
