Every night international trains with refugees arrive and volunteers wait for them at the platforms to make sure they do not get lost. Officer Holder, who was shot and killed on Oct. 20 chasing a suspect in Manhattan, was given the kind of ceremony usually reserved for public officials. Guyana’s president, David Granger, attended, and the mayor of Georgetown, Hamilton Green, offered brief remarks. Lisa Punch, a singer who was recently crowned Miss Guyana, paid tribute with a song called “One Last Time.”
