Lughnasadh is a festival of profound cultural significance, marking the transition from the exuberant fullness of summer to the burgeoning maturity of autumn.

Rooted in ancient Celtic traditions, it honours the first harvest of the year, a time of gratitude for the Earth’s bounty and recognition of the cyclical nature of life. This festival celebrates not only the physical harvest but also the culmination of skills and crafts honed throughout the growing season.
Central to Lughnasadh is the concept of BALANCE. It is a time to appreciate abundance while acknowledging the impending change of seasons…

A: Kamala Harris (and mainstream Democrats all down the ballot), of course.
Q2: Of course?
A: If the alternative is Trump, I would’ve voted for Biden’s rotting corpse. Or for Hunter Biden. Or for…
Q3: Why can’t you see this is just your Trump Derangement Syndrome talking?
A: Look, my basic moral commitments remain pretty much as they’ve been since childhood. Namely, that I’m on the side of reason, Enlightenment, scientific and technological progress, secular government, pragmatism, democracy, individual liberty, justice, intellectual honesty, an American-led peaceful world order, preservation of the natural world, mitigation of existential risks, and human flourishing. (Crazy and radical, I know.)
Only when choosing between candidates who all espouse such values, do I even get the luxury of judging them on any lower-order bits. Sadly, I don’t have that luxury today. Trump’s values, such as they are, would seem to be “America First,” protectionism, vengeance, humiliation of enemies, winning at all costs, authoritarianism, the veneration of foreign autocrats, and the veneration of himself. No amount of squinting can ever reconcile those with the values I listed before.
Q4: Is that all that’s wrong with him?
A: No, there are also the lies, and worst of all the “Big Lie.” Trump is the first president in US history to incite a mob to try to overturn the results of an election. He was serious! He very nearly succeeded, and probably would have, had Mike Pence been someone else. It’s now inarguable that Trump rejects the basic rules of our system, or “accepts” them only when he wins. We’re numb from having heard it so many times, but it’s a big deal, as big a deal as the Civil War was…
In memory of the Ragya Ganjong Sherig Norbu Lobling, which was recently closed due to oppressive Chinese policies. This closure is part of a broader pattern of cultural suppression, aimed at erasing Tibetan identity and assimilating Tibetans into Chinese culture. The forced enrollment of Tibetan children in Chinese-run boarding schools, without access to Tibetan cultural curricula, is a violation of their rights and a threat to their cultural heritage. We urge the international community to uphold the principles of Freedom of Education and take action to prevent the destruction of Tibetan culture, which constitutes cultural genocide.
Another School Shut Down in Tibet!
As I peer through the cracking walls,
My heart sinks at the sight before me,
Schools being shut down, one by one,
By force, it feels like a terrible dream.
Sweeping away the essence of our nation,
Leaving our identity in tatters,
Like whispers carried away by the wind.
The trees now grow tall in full gloom,
Soon to dry and die in the empty campus,
As will the branches bearing fruit and wisdom.
Students, once vibrant as spring blossoms,
Now scattered like leaves in autumn’s cruel wind.
Roofs collapse, walls crumble,
Ancient wisdom fades to mere echoes,
In halls where young minds once flourished.
Classrooms now chained by spider webs,
Dust conquers desks in silent victory,
Mother tongue chokes, gasping for air,
Culture suffocates behind locked doors,
Young hearts starved of truth and heritage.
As the doors are closed,
And gates barricaded and blocked,
The walls crack and cry in silence.
The trees’ gentle, caressing whispers vanish,
Elders watch, their eyes clouded with sorrow,
As traditions crumble like sand castles.
Identity bleeds from forced wounds,
A nation’s soul dimming with each closed door.
In the silence of this loss,
The world turns, unseeing, unhearing.
Another school falls in Tibet, And with it, a nation’s identity.
