Pope says Church should ask forgiveness from gays for past treatment | Reuters

Pope Francis said on Sunday that Christians and the Roman Catholic Church should seek forgiveness from homosexuals for the way they had treated them.Speaking to reporters aboard the plane taking him back to Rome from Armenia, he also said the Church should ask forgiveness for the way it has treated women, for turning a blind eye to child labor and for “blessing so many weapons” in the past.

RIP – He was a rapper trying to stop violence in Baltimore. Tyriece Travon Watson, better known as Lor Scoota, had just finished hosting a charity basketball game. The fliers advertising the event had said, “Pray for peace in these streets.” Music artists and important faces from around the city had come together to prove they could get along. Lor Scoota got in his car and left the arena. Bringing peace to Baltimore was a message he had been trying to spread — on panels, in classrooms and in his music. “How I’m supposed to live with all this death in my sight?” the 23-year-old had once sang. Lor Scoota was about a mile away from the arena when he was shot and killed Saturday night.

Tribute to Judith, to nine years of femicide in the villa 31 – Red Harvest

Paul Zapulla, head of the National Campaign Against Institutional Violence in Villa 31, told Red Harvest that one of the objectives of the campaign is “to organize the families of the victims of trigger within neighborhoods so they can seek justice” and avoid other cases. For them, “Gumer is a pride to have lost value representing a daughter and keep fighting every day.” She is always the first to “get to meetings and the last to leave.” Judith Gimenez’s mother encourages young people to continue fighting. Does not give up not only by the memory of her daughter, but her two grandchildren “villera pure strain” Nicholas Valentina four years and two. “I fight so that they can grow and live freely, enjoy your neighborhood and walk to the time it is,” said Red Harvest. He added: “where there is an injustice, murder or police doing a bad job there will be present, always.”

Pope denounces 1915 ‘genocide’ during visit to Armenian memorial – France 24

A sombre Pope Francis, “with pain in my heart,” paid tribute on Saturday to the 1.5 million Armenians massacred in 1915, an event that he has labelled a genocide, risking Turkey’s ire. Francis, on the second day of his trip to Armenia, made an early morning stop at the Tzitzernakaberd, the “Genocide Memorial and Museum,” a towering granite needle flanked by an eternal flame on a hillside overlooking the Armenian capital. There, visibly moved, he took part in a prayer service along with President Serzh Sarksyan and leaders of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Al Aqsa..pray,eat and love

Al Aqsa…pray, eat and love!

Amid the contradiction that we live in, is the rising issue of what is happening in and to al Aqsa in Ramadan.

I love Jerusalem in Ramadan. It gives a flavor to the city that is denounced all year long. I can continue my fascination of the city during this month forever. It brings out the charm and the real mystifying essence of the city. However, there are things that one cannot simply ignore.

I have to say that I am just getting sicker and sicker each day of “us”. It is no longer the occupation only, or the PA only. It is no way a universal conspiracy against us. There is something wrong in us.

Last week when the masses of people decided to use the EGED transport services that was provided for free to the dwellers of the West Bank to the Jerusalem…

Studies find prior dengue worsens Zika but hint at vaccine potential | CIDRAP

A pair of studies today probing the complex antibody reactions between Zika and dengue infection have both bad news and good news: that earlier dengue infection can worsen Zika infections, but a certain antibody against dengue can also neutralize Zika virus, raising the possibility of a vaccine target.

Humans of New York

“I’ve lost two friends who, like this gentleman, judged themselves harsher than anyone else would – even God. It seems to me that all they had left, was the ability to control their giving up on life as their self-punishment. Their “sin” self-imposed nonsense leads to their death in-place.”

“She committed suicide a week prior to our thirtieth anniversary. Our oldest daughter had died of leukemia a couple years earlier. Holly took it extra hard. We drifted apart. We’d parse our words. Nothing was natural anymore: ‘Do we talk this way?’ ‘Do we laugh at this moment?’ ‘ Do we even have a right to laugh?’ But I still thought we were doing OK. Things weren’t like they used to be. But I still thought things were OK. We rented a hotel room for our thirtieth anniversary. I was supposed to meet her there after work. She overdosed on pills before I got there. I don’t know why she did it that way. She said in her note that she wasn’t angry, but I don’t know why she did it that way. I fell apart. I started drinking a lot and doing cocaine. I lost my job. One day I was giving a presentation after being up all night on drugs, and I just started hallucinating. I thought one of the clients was Holly. I stopped the presentation and started calling her name. The company was nice about it. They gave me a nice severance package. But I gave all the money to my kids. I’ve been on the streets ever since. It’s been eight years. My kids have tried to give me the money back but I won’t take it. I ride the subways at night. If it’s warm enough, I sleep on a bench. I read a little. I write a little. I go to the soup line in the morning. I’m just existing. I wasn’t a good husband. I wasn’t a good father. And now I’m doing penance.”

NATO couldn’t stop Russian attack on Baltics: US general – The Local “Err… when did generals in US Army start being public mouthpieces for neo-con propaganda?”

“Russia could take over the Baltic states faster than we would be able to defend them,” Hodges was quoted as saying in a German-language article by news weekly Die Zeit. The general said he agreed with an assessment by military analysts that says Russian forces could conquer the capitals of Baltic states Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia within 36 to 60 hours. Hodges also said NATO forces had found numerous deficiencies during the recent “Anaconda” military exercise in Poland, according to the article from Thursday’s edition of Die Zeit released early to AFP. Heavy military equipment could not be moved fast enough from western to eastern Europe, he said, while also voicing concern about the alliance’s communication technology.
