US President Donald Trump appears to have had an epiphany, perhaps brought on by some chocolate cake, declaring that he will not label China as a currency manipulator after all.During his presidential campaign, Trump had repeatedly promised to label China a currency manipulator on his first day in office. To explain his sudden change of heart on the issue, Trump told the Wall Street Journal that taking the step could wreck his master plan to get China to handle the North Korea crisis and anyway the Chinese government had not been manipulating its currency for months. “They’re not currency manipulators,” Trump said in the interview. Two months ago, Trump called China the “grand champions” of currency manipulation, and just last week he said they were the “world champions. “As always, there’s a relevant Trump tweet for the occasion. However, Trump’s flip-flop now brings him in line with his own cabinet members, experts and reality on the issue. Previously, Trump had long charged Beijing with artificially keeping the value of the renminbi low in order to hurt American manufacturers. Trump had stuck with this conviction, even as data, the International Monetary Fund and the US Treasury Department said that it was false with most experts believing that China is in fact manipulating the yuan up, not down.Of course, Trump’s about-face on China’s currency manipulation follows his first meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping last week at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida where the two bonded while eating “the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake” and listening to Trump’s granddaughter sing “Mo Li Hua.”
“No. But if I see them using gas and using things that — I mean even some of the worst tyrants in the world didn’t use the kind of gases that they used. And some of the gases are unbelievably potent.”
An IDF brigade commander shot a Palestinian teen who threw a rock at his jeep, while the boy was running away, and then left him bleeding on the road. Initially, the colonel claimed his life was in danger. With each subsequent interrogation, the story changed. The military police determined the incident was a ‘professional error’ – bad aim – and closed the case despite evidence that tells a very different story.
The Trump Organization sold the Miss Universe Organization, which runs the international beauty pageant as well as Miss USA, in September 2015 as some of then-candidate Trump’s business partners had cut ties with him over his inflammatory rhetoric about immigrants. The following year, recordings surfaced in which Trump boasted about walking in on beauty pageant contestants as they changed in dressing rooms, and 1997 Miss Teen USA contestants said they recalled him doing the same in dressing rooms with girls as young as 15. Similar allegations arose during Trump’s time in the modeling business. During a short-lived partnership in the early ’90s with a company called American Dream Calendar Girls, a pageant-to-pinup-calendar business, Trump allegedly groped the company’s cofounder under a restaurant table, then later in the night forcibly kissed and groped her in the Mar-a-Lago estate bedroom of his daughter Ivanka, then 11. Another woman, a model contestant in the pageant, accused Trump of appearing uninvited in her bed that same night. Trump denied the allegations, and the American Dream cofounder, Jill Harth, withdrew the lawsuit outlining them as a condition of settling a separate lawsuit about money he owed.
So, let’s be clear. The CIA did their job. The CIA got the information. The CIA delivered the information to the people that they should have-THE F.B.I., the President, the leaders of Congress. We know what the FBI Director did.The GOP leadership knew. They kept quiet. They are traitors to this country and should be treated as such.Illegitimate Election. Illegitimate Administration.
It’s one of those cases that leaves you absolutely gobsmacked. The Court actually believes that a man who set his wife on fire didn’t know that that fire would kill her, or did it with intentions other than murder. I used to think it was annoying when Courts and the Constitution would infantilise women in their phrasing and with the weird category of “women-and-children”, but this infantilisation of men is new and astounding to me. Everything about this case is infuriating from the get go: from the idea of a jealous, suspicious, insecure man who doubts his wife’s actions to the extent that his own insecurities drive him to set her on fire, to the idea that anyone, especially men in power who make influential decisions that shape legal precedent, can think that he had intentions other than murder when he did so. Hanumant Chavan is now convicted by the Bombay High Court of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Papa is not here with me; he hasn’t been for 18 years. My limited vocabulary of about 200 words, learnt new words called death, war and Pakistan on the days following august 6th, 1999. For obvious reasons it did take me a few years to actually understand the implied definition of them. I say implied because, honestly, does anyone even know their true meaning? I live it and I’m still trying to figure it out especially in the sense of the world. My father’s a martyr but I don’t know him as that. I know him as the man who wore big cargo jackets with pockets full of sweets, whose stubble scratched my nose every time he kissed my forehead, teacher who taught me how to sip from a straw and introduced me to chewing gum. I know him as my father. I also know him as the shoulder my tiny self clung to extremely tightly hoping if I held him strongly enough he won’t go. He went. He just didn’t come back.My father is a martyr. I’m his daughter.But.I am not your “Martyr’s Daughter”.
“The art of the deal.” The military strikes might not have been coordinated with Moscow, but there was some kind of an agreement via military or intelligence channels that the action would be taken for political reasons that would sit well with the White House and the Kremlin. Those supporting this third narrative point to the rather courteous nature of the bilateral communication before the attack. The Department of Defense says the United States warned Russia ahead of the strike “to minimize risk to Russian or Syrian personnel.” Syria’s armed forces were also warned and “took precautions in more than one military point, including in the Shayrat air base.”Only 23 of the 59 cruise missiles launched actually hit their targets, which Moscow says indicates that the United States never really intended to inflict serious damage. As a result, the strikes destroyed only one equipment depot, a training building, six MiG-23 aircraft in repair hangars and a radar station, while the runway, taxiways and Syrian air force aircraft in parking areas remained intact.Does anyone see the validity to these theories? My question is……23 out of 59? Where the Hell did those other missile wind up? A smart bomb my ass!
As we drove, children came out to meet the convoy in the freezing cold, wearing winter clothes provided by UNICEF in a previous mission. I thought to myself: How does it feel after two years of besiegement for your life to depend on what humanitarian convoys bring you? What is it like to wait for almost four months for your only lifeline? How does it feel to not know whether the next meal you give your children will be their last one?During the past four months, the situation in Madaya has worsened drastically. Snipers and shelling have increased and the violence impacts every aspect of people’s daily lives. “I haven’t seen my mother in over a month because last time I tried visiting her, a sniper shot at me. It is not safe anywhere in Madaya,” said the town’s only nurse minutes after leaving a primitive operating room where she had helped a veterinarian-turned-surgeon operate on an injured patient.
