O domingo, a partir do dia dos pais. – O Outro Lado

Pai,

Echoes of the Ancients: The Wisdom and Power of Elephants – Palm Oil Detectives

World Elephant Day, celebrated on August 12th, honours the gentle and nurturing giants of Asia and Africa, who are revered for their deep spiritual wisdom, gentle strength, and nurturing natures. Over the past decade, their numbers have plummeted by 62% due to palm oil deforestation and the cruel poaching for ivory. Without radical intervention, these magnificent beings could be near extinction by the 2060s. Yet, do not despair because hope endures in the form of activism. Explore the extraordinary resilience and intelligence of pachyderms, and discover how you can help safeguard their future with consumer boycotts and supporting organisations fighting wildlife crime.

COVID-19 Current Situation

In recent months, COVID-19 cases have been rising steadily. Data from WHO indicates that the percentage of positive tests for SARS-CoV-2 has been increasing across 84 countries. This uptick in cases is unusual for the summer months, as respiratory viruses typically spread more in colder temperatures. However, the current situation suggests that COVID-19 is defying these seasonal trends.

Clear Evidence Exists on Who Won the Venezuelan Elections – Havana Times

Jennie Lincoln, the senior advisor for the Carter Center for Latin America and head of the only independent election observation mission at Venezuela’s July 28th elections, has no doubts about the results. “We reviewed 24,533 tally sheets (collected by opposition witnesses) with 81.7% (of the total voting records), and we agree with the analysis of these records that show that Edmundo González won with nearly 70%, by a 2 to 1 margin,” Lincoln said in an interview on the program Esta Semana, to be broadcast on CONFIDENCIAL’s YouTube channel this Sunday, August 11 at 8:00 PM…
