The crowds protesting California’s stay-at-home orders aimed at stopping the spread of the novel coronavirus have a litany of grievances: Open the beaches. Free the churches. End the tyranny of a governor who has gone too far. They hop barricades to surf. They cite the Constitution. They wave American flags. They sport Trump 2020 gear. They rail against vaccines. In other states, including Michigan, protesters have shown up at government buildings carrying rifles. Despite their varied causes, the protesters have been almost entirely white — even in California, a state that mostly is not.

Exclusive: report criticising government lockdown proposals heavily redacted before release
Government scientific advisers are furious at what they see as an attempt to censor their advice on government proposals during the Covid-19 lockdown by heavily redacting an official report before it was released to the public, the Guardian can reveal.
The report was one of a series of documents published by the Scientific Advisory Group on Emergencies (Sage) this week to mollify growing criticism about the lack of transparency over the advice given to ministers responding to the coronavirus.
“We are concerned about unemployment serving as a disincentive for individuals who have been laid off to get back to work when the economy reopens,” said a spokesperson for US senator Rob Portman, a Republican from Ohio.

Traitors know no bounds

The Justice department has announced it will drop its case against Michael Flynn, who pled guilty to lying to the FBI – we know why
Welcome to law and order in the age of William Barr. Against the tableau of a raging pandemic and job market in free-fall, on Thursday the justice department announced that it would be dropping its case against Michael Flynn, the president’s short-tenured national security advisor.
The fact that Flynn had pled guilty and Donald Trump had previously accused him of lying to the vice president no longer mattered. These days, Trump was claiming that Flynn had been exonerated and, after all, Barr was the president’s obedient servant. His tweets were Barr’s commands.

BEIJING (AFP) – China said on Friday (May 8) it supports a World Health Organisation-led review into the global response to the coronavirus outbreak, but only “after the pandemic is over”.
The comments from foreign ministry spokesman Hua Chunying came as China faces increasing global pressure to allow an international investigation into the origins of the pandemic.
The review should be conducted in an “open, transparent and inclusive manner” under the leadership of WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Ms Hua said at a press briefing.
She added that it should be at an “appropriate time after the pandemic is over”.
The review should “summarise the experience and deficiencies of the international response to the pandemic, strengthen the WHO’s work, enhance the construction of countries’ core public health capabilities, and provide suggestions to improve global preparedness against major infectious diseases”, said Ms Hua.
She also said China would cooperate with WHO efforts to trace the origin, but rejected US calls for an investigation, accusing it of “politicising the issue”.
There have been growing calls led by the United States and Australia for an international inquiry into the issue, which has become a key flashpoint in tensions between Washington and Beijing.
Ms Hua stressed that any inquiry should be based on the International Health Regulations, and be authorised by the World Health Assembly or Executive Committee – WHO’s dual governing bodies.
WHO epidemiologist Maria van Kerkhove said on Wednesday that the agency is in talks with China to send a mission to investigate the animal source of the virus.
Both US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have heavily criticised China’s alleged lack of transparency, and have repeatedly pushed the theory that the virus emerged from a Wuhan maximum-security virology laboratory.
The claim has become a key point of contention between China and the US, with Beijing accusing US Republican politicians of shifting the blame as an electioneering strategy.
Most scientists believe the virus originated in animals before it was passed on to humans.
Numerous countries, including France, Germany and Britain, have urged greater transparency from China over its handling of the virus.
China has strenuously denied accusations that it concealed information relating to the initial outbreak, insisting it has always shared information with the WHO and other countries in a timely manner.
We Americans are bombarded every day with all sorts of news about this pandemic….antics of Donald of Orange, what the official count is, those mental midgets that want to infect the entire nation for their lack of concern….and then there are some stories that just do not make it to the news consumer……and there is where IST comes in…..
First I have seen where 45% of the American people think Donald the Orange is doing a good job managing this virus…..HUH?
Do these people see and hear the same stuff that I do? If so how can anyone see the good job this man is doing? But then most of them look like they should be in a mental institution.
Some more troubling stats on the deaths….
Roughly 1,750 Americans are dying every day from COVID-19. But new federal estimates project that figure will nearly double over the next month, reports the New York Times. The projections from the CDC and FEMA see the US hitting about 3,000 deaths per day on June 1. The forecast also sees 200,000 newly diagnosed cases a day by that date, up from 25,000 a day now. The Times published the internal document here. On Sunday, President Trump increased his own estimate for the US death toll to 100,000, but the Times notes that figure will be surpassed in short order if these projections are correct. The US currently has about 68,000 confirmed coronavirus deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The new projections illustrate the risk of relaxing restrictions around the country, per the Hill. “There remains a large number of counties whose burden continues to grow,” warns the CDC in the report. After the Times published the information, the White House cautioned against reading too much into it. “This is not a White House document nor has it been presented to the Coronavirus Task Force or gone through interagency vetting,” said spokesman Judd Deere. “This data is not reflective of any of the modeling done by the task force or data that the task force has analyzed.” On Sunday, task force member Dr. Deborah Birx reiterated that White House projections on deaths remained between 100,000 and 240,000, “and that’s with full mitigation.”
The White House predictions on deaths is not encouraging….
An internal Trump administration document predicted that the US’s daily coronavirus death toll would nearly double over the next month, even as the president has encouraged states to return to business as usual, The New York Times first reported on Monday.
Daily deaths are expected to grow to about 3,000 by June 1 from about 1,750 now, according to the document, copies of which were obtained by The Times and The Washington Post.
The draft models also predicted that the number of new infections per day would jump to 200,000 from 25,000 — an eightfold increase — by June 1.
I recently wrote about a Russian doctor the “fell” out a window….and now there seems to be a trend developing…..
Three frontline health care workers have mysteriously fallen out of hospital windows in Russia over the past two weeks, heightening public attention to the working conditions for doctors and medical professionals amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Two of those health care workers are dead, and one remains hospitalized. All three incidents, which are being investigated by Russian law enforcement authorities, have prompted intense discussion in the Russian press and on social media.Alexander Shulepov, an ambulance doctor in Voronezh, a city about 320 miles south of Moscow, is in serious condition after falling from a hospital window on Saturday. Local state television, citing regional health officials, said he fell out of second-floor window of the Novousmanskaya hospital, where he worked and was receiving treatment after testing positive for coronavirus.
A preliminary study by French researchers left the medical community baffled when it found that smokers may be 80 percent less likely to catch COVID-19 than non-smokers of the same age and sex.
Analyzing public health data, the scientists concluded that out of the 482 patients who visited Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris between February 28th and April 9th, merely 5 percent were daily smokers, according to a report in The Economist.
The results come as a surprise and contradict multiple other studies and expert warnings which have cautioned against tobacco use and smoking, as FIT had earlier reported. The study researchers have also acknowledged the danger smoking poses to health, making further inquiry into the findings extremely necessary.

GUARDIANSHIP There is a certain guardianship forced on us, both men and women, by society. This guardianship takes the form of men of religion and men of politics. This is what takes shape in societies with tribal thinking and with dictatorships. The same authority can be said in an intellectual thinker, whether his ideas are…
The loosening of restrictions is being justified with claims that the COVID-19 pandemic is waning and people can now begin to work, shop, dine out, travel and go to church as they once did, without undue risk. But that is not actually the expectation of the Trump administration. On the contrary, press inquiries have found that the federal government expects an enormous spike in the death toll and is making preparations accordingly. https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2020/05/02/pers-m02.html You notice the people that will be sacrificed are the poor…….and if that does nit work then I am sure that Congress will find it in their hearts to float another stim package that will aid no one but the rich. Don’t worry…..even if Donald loses in November 2021 will be little difference….the poor will pay the ultimate rice for this pandemic.
