Tens of thousands of grieving and angry Israelis surged into the streets Sunday night after six more hostages were found dead in Gaza, chanting “Now! Now!” as they demanded that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reach a cease-fire with Hamas to bring the remaining captives home. The mass outpouring appeared to be the largest such demonstration in 11 months of war and protesters said it felt like a possible turning point, although the country is deeply divided.

I had then shifted to Indore from a place called Damoh in Madhya Pradesh on my regular transfer. While the household items had been unloaded, they were not yet fully arranged in the new house. We had managed to get the kitchen up and running, though.
Unfortunately, soon after arriving in Indore, my 3-year-old son had to be hospitalised due to diarrhoea and vomiting, likely due to the stress of the move and perhaps some neglect on our part amidst the packing, travel, and settling in.
After he was discharged from the hospital, we breathed a sigh of relief and began rearranging the furniture, electric appliances, books, and showpieces in various rooms.
One day, while I was at the office and my wife was in the kitchen, our son was playing with the scattered items on the floor. He found some coins and, without thinking, put one in his mouth. As he chewed it, he accidentally swallowed the coin and began to choke.
He ran to his mother, who was completely bewildered and unsure of what to do. She, taking him in her arms, hurried downstairs to seek help from our landlord’s family. But no one was there except the landlord’s son, Amitabh. Without hesitation, Amitabh quickly grabbed my son by his legs, holding him upside down, and in no time, the coin that had been lodged in his throat fell to the floor.
She felt an immense sense of relief, and my wife sincerely thanked Amitabh for his presence of mind that saved our son’s life. Now, you might be curious as to why I chose to share this story, particularly focussing on Amitabh.
It was a great relief, and my wife profusely thanked Amitabh for his presence of mind in saving the life of my son. Now you might be thinking why I chose to talk about this incident and especially, Amitabh.
Amitabh was the elder son of my landlord. Although he couldn’t speak clearly, he could understand everything others said. Sometimes he used sign language since his speech was not very clear. He used a machine to assist him, as back then, advanced speech-to-sign technology like Electrolarynx was not available.
Because of this, our conversations with him were limited, yet he was remarkably knowledgeable and hardworking. Like me, his father was a banker. But Amitabh, through his own efforts, established a successful business dealing in pipes. I have great admiration for his diligence and entrepreneurial spirit.
While God may have taken away his clear speech, He more than compensated for it by bestowing upon him additional talents to help him overcome his challenges. As Dallin H. Oaks once said, “God gives us a way to compensate for our weaknesses.”
Today, Amitabh is more refined and sophisticated in both his conversation and behavior. Whenever we visit Indore, we always make it a point to visit his home, where we had spent nearly four years.

Dear Letter V Yep! Still at sea
Mom, I was seriously thinking of tearing this letter up, as I couldn’t for the life of me locate an airmail stamp aboard ship. I kept at it though until finally fortune smiled down on me and success was mine. I have been pretty lucky so far at my card playing activities and should it hold out until we reach some civilized port, why I’ll be ahead and you will be pleasantly surprised when you receive my check for like amount. We can cable home money from abroad so might just as well take your advice — surprised? — and send it home for that day when we shall all return.
We have a large map of the world hanging up on the wall, which supplies us with as much amusement trying to figure out just where we are. According to figures, dates, times and patience, we should be hitting a port sometime real soon. In fact there is a rumor being whispered about that we will hit one tomorrow. Now this rumor comes from good authority seeing that it came from a fellow whose first sergeant is a second cousin to the uncle of the father of the first mate whose brother is third cook on this boat. Now, can’t you see why we are so glumly overjoyed? All kidding aside though, we should be nearing one soon.
We saw a movie last night down in the mess hall. It was quite an old picture, but luckily for me, I hadn’t seen it before, so therefore I spent my most enjoyable hour so far on this trip. The officers on this trip haven’t been having it quite as tough as us, but rough enough. In order to pass away their time they have taken up the game of badminton with a zeal and I must say have really kept at it until now this regiment can boast it has not only badminton players, but experts as well. By the way, I have also learned how to play the old card game of Cribbage. Ever hear tell of it before? Well mom, that is all for today, so once again I’ll sign off, but before I do, give my regards to all and I’ll write again soon.
Love and kisses, Everett

For industries that boil or bake, it makes sense to store excess renewable energy as heat. That’s what devices built by Heat Storage Berlin are designed to do. Four hours of excess electricity can provide heat for 24 hours, powering everything from paper production to pizzas.
