Why is the COVID-19 pandemic hitting San Antonio’s south and west sides hardest?

“Before the pandemic, whenever we would do maps showing prevalence of chronic disease – so like obesity, diabetes, smoking, etc, – the same parts of town would also show up as having some of the worst health statistics,” Bridger said. “And so, what I think we are seeing here is this unfortunate collision between the COVID pandemic and this decades-long chronic health crisis in those parts of the city.”

There’s a higher proportion of uninsured people in these areas, too, Bridger said.

“So when you don’t have health insurance, you’re going to put off going to the hospital as long as you possibly can because you’re not sure how you’re going to be able to pay for that bill,” Bridger said.

As for the overall prevalence of the disease, Argumedo thinks it relates to how the community is set up.

Houses tend to be smaller, tighter spaces. And then you have multigenerational families living in those small homes,” he said.

“You’ll have a younger adult who may have to go to work. They may spread it – obtain it through there, come home. Grandma gets infected, and then the rest of the household gets infected.”

Florida Gov. DeSantis said there’s a problem with vaccine shipments. Pfizer disagrees. (Governor prefers lying to finding facts)

“Pfizer is not having any production issues with our COVID-19 vaccine, and no shipments containing the vaccine are on hold or delayed,” the statement read. “This week, we successfully shipped all 2.9 million doses that we were asked to ship by the U.S. Government to the locations specified by them. We have millions more doses sitting in our warehouse but, as of now, we have not received any shipment instructions for additional doses.”

The contradiction raises questions about the coordination between the private sector and state and federal officials as the United States embarks on an unprecedented campaign of vaccination.

The Power of Positive People

Saania's diary - reflections, learnings, sparkles

Our happiness is not just a personal experience, it is often passed on to the people around us. It’s almost like when a pebble falls into the water causing ripples around it. In a similar way, our words, our actions, and our behaviours affect the ones around us, who in turn affect the ones who come into contact with them, and so on.

I can think about how my own mood is influenced by the lady at the Starbucks drive through who smiles, is happy, and is kind versus the one who is bitter, miserable, or rude. In both situations, a complete stranger’s attitude has the power to impact my own! And I now may pass it on to my friends, my parents, and the people around me.

While our emotions shouldn’t be at mercy of other people, our mind is something we do and can have control over…

The last question was: “What would you say made you feel the most fortunate and blessed over the years?”

The guest replied: “I passed four stages in my life to finally find true prosperity:

At first, I thought wealth would make me happy but that wasn’t the only solution.

What Is a Die-Elect?

Foundation Operation X for Languages, Cultures and Perspectives

Written by Dyami Millarson

A dialect is, in a certain sense, a language that is elected to die. In other words, languages branded as dialects have been singled out for disappearance from the face of the earth. Many who call such languages dialects, which are often useless in their eyes anyway and merely outdated relics from the past, ascribe to the idea that the death of dialects is inevitable, and it is even a sign of progress.

People see dialects as obstacles that must either be eradicated actively or passively be allowed to die off. A negative connotation is inherently linked with the modern concept of dialect, and this cannot be removed from it. In fact, dialect is, I would argue, inherently linguicidal. People insisting that they use this term in a neutral sense are perpetuating this negative connotation.

A dialect is often defined within a geographic framework as a…

Healing herbal teas – ForHealthForHealth

It seems that our ancestors experimentally brewed everything as soon as they realized that this could be done. And in addition to herbs, flowers, leaves of various shrubs, roots and fruits also went into business – mostly berries, but not rarely fruits. And in all parts of the plants, something is contained. Of fruits and berries, apples, currants, cranberries, lingonberries, rose hips, blueberries, plums and mountain ash are most often added to herbs. And from the roots, these are usually the roots of dandelion, burdock and ginseng. Source: Healing herbal teas – ForHealthForHealth

Un conte initiatique – “La Magie de l’Amazonie – Les aventures de Namowë, un garçon Yanomami”

An initiatory tale – “The Magic of the Amazon – The adventures of Namowë, a Yanomami boy”

Barbara Crane Navarro
