After delay, Israel allows vaccines into Hamas-run Gaza

The Palestinian Authority sent the first shipment of coronavirus vaccines to the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on Wednesday, two days after accusing Israel of preventing it from dispatching the doses amid objections from some Israeli lawmakers.

Palestinian Health Minister Mai Alkaila said in a statement that the PA sent 2,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. An Associated Press photographer in Gaza saw the shipment arrive midday at the Kerem Shalom crossing.

Nearly 300K without power as San Antonio tries to weather the storm | WOAI (Texas chose to not be part of national grid to save money)

According to the Texas Tribune, energy experts, local leaders and residents said energy and state officials failed to properly prepare people for the mass outages coinciding with dangerous weather that’s already led to at least 10 deaths.

Governor Greg Abbott has called for reform of ERCOT during the current legislative session, saying “the Electric Reliability Council of Texas has been anything but reliable over the past 48 hours.”

Myanmar drivers block off military with their cars

Responding to a “broken-down car campaign” spreading on social media, commuters, taxi drivers, and even public transportation employees have joined the protest, pretending they had broken down to block police and army trucks moving around. Taxi driver Thein Naing said driving conditions have been so bad in recent days that he decided to join other drivers to protest the military takeover. Opponents of the military coup have called for more big protests on Wednesday to show that the army’s assertion of widespread public support for overthrowing elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi and holding new elections was false.

My Ash Wednesday 2021 Version — Nengkoy

I am a Catholic and last year I had one of the weirdest and rarest observance of Palm Sunday.  The country was already on a strict lockdown due to covid19 and I had to contend myself from hearing the Holy Mass in front of a TV.  And since no one was allowed to go out […]

Dominating the desert

Love Saguaros

Roadtirement

The awesome and iconic Saguaro cactus is truly the dominant feature of the Sonoran Desert in the Southwest. The Saguaro has become the symbol of all things desert. The towering cacti live to be 250 years old and older. They don’t start to grow their “arms” until they are at least 75 years old!

The Saguaro National Park has two sections on either side of Tucson, Arizona.  Both sections offer unbelievable opportunities to enjoy the magnificent and thriving desert environments. Walking trails and scenic roads give ample opportunities to get up close and personal with the Saguaro and countless other species of desert plants. A trip to the Saguaro National Park should be on everyone’s travel itinerary. We’ll be back to Tucson and the desert once our travel is possible.

Hram Borobudur, Indonezija

you can select the language to read this post on the right hand side.
“Today, the Borobudur Temple spreads magnificently in the valley, in its full, old splendor. It is known that it was built in the VIII century by order of Samaragunte, a king from the Sailendra dynasty, who ruled Java from the VI to the X century. The Sailendre belonged to a part of the Indian Chandel dynasty (known for building temples in Khajurah), which left the subcontinent after converting to Buddhism. Therefore, it is certain that the techniques and iconography used in the construction were “Indian”. What remains unclear is the reason for the erection of the temple, as well as the meaning of the large number of symbols and enigmatic messages within it.”

Myrela
