GOP precinct chair in Texas arrested in US Capitol riot – CNNPolitics

Mark Middleton and Jalise Middleton at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. Photo from the Department of Justice. So where is the Covid-specific infrastructure and the “people’s movement” against the virus that Modi boasted about in his speech? Hospital beds are unavailable. Doctors and medical staff are at breaking point. Friends call with stories about wards with no staff and more dead patients than live ones. People are dying in hospital corridors, on roads and in their homes. Crematoriums in Delhi have run out of firewood. The forest department has had to give special permission for the felling of city trees. Desperate people are using whatever kindling they can find. Parks and car parks are being turned into cremation grounds. It’s as if there’s an invisible UFO parked in our skies, sucking the air out of our lungs. An air raid of a kind we’ve never known. Wondering Wednesdays, Baby Acres, and The Two Whys…

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

This post begins the rough draft of the first Chapter of my current non-fiction WiP, Baby Acres: Making Society Suck Less in 60 Years.     The overall goal is now to explain why we need both equ. + justice, & why in 4 phases.  This chapter will transition to a chapter (2-5) for each phase, showing what Phases I-IV might look like as part of a possible roadmap for a fully inclusive society for all of us.  This vision is laid out in the hope that All HumanKind  will eventually have each person’s basic needs  met, without taking anything from anyone, and without violence, intimidation, nor coercion of any kind.

Chapter I (part 0): why and why

This week I am very tired, and working on getting updating the chapter outlines from their initial 2019 form.

Next week I will continue with the rough draft of the start…

‘We are witnessing a crime against humanity’: Arundhati Roy on India’s Covid catastrophe | Coronavirus | The Guardian

Modi spoke at a time when people in Europe and the US were suffering through the peak of the second wave of the pandemic. He had not one word of sympathy to offer, only a long, gloating boast about India’s infrastructure and Covid-preparedness. I downloaded the speech because I fear that when history is rewritten by the Modi regime, as it soon will be, it might disappear, or become hard to find. Here are some priceless snippets:

“Friends, I have brought the message of confidence, positivity and hope from 1.3 billion Indians amid these times of apprehension … It was predicted that India would be the most affected country from corona all over the world. It was said that there would be a tsunami of corona infections in India, somebody said 700-800 million Indians would get infected while others said 2 million Indians would die.”

“Friends, it would not be advisable to judge India’s success with that of another country. In a country which is home to 18% of the world population, that country has saved humanity from a big disaster by containing corona effectively.”

Hag’s Chair or Mass Rock?

Michael Stephen Wills Photography

Part of our day in County Meath, Ireland
Click the photograph to open a new window/tab of my Online Gallery.

Known as the Hag’s Chair in some contexts, K29 or the Mass Rock, in others, set as a Cairn T, Loughcrew kerbstone thousands of years ago the carved symbols on front, rear and seat are very worn. There is no surviving record to inform us of the stone’s purpose. The upper side appears carved to enhance the form as chair.   Set to the north of Cairn T, not in front of the entrance as with Newgrange, even this is a mystery.  It is the third largest curbstone.

Eat to live

Inhale Peace; Exhale Love. Joy will Follow! - RUELHA

Eat to live; do not live to eat. I'm not talking about a preference like rice or wheat. Of course, everyone has likes and dislikes. But, it cannot be only cakes going down your pipes. The desires of the flesh, one must control and defeat. I mean - don't be too rigid like dried up concrete. One can have a preference. Along with a palate endurance. Because, controlling bodily desires. Teaches us to be at peace and reach higher. Food is but nutrition. Health should be a deciding intention. Then consider the heart of the person offering. Is it all they've got to offer; is it from a hand that's loving? More than anything, food must be respected. It is something that must never be wasted. Many do not get even a few grains in a day. So remember those unfortunate souls when you dislike your buffet. It is not…

Good People Doing Good Things — Saving Lives | Filosofa’s Word

Mayur is a railway worker in India, and on April 17th, he was working at Vangani station about 60 miles out of Mumbai.  Meanwhile, a partially blind mother and her 6-year-old son were walking next to the tracks.

Suddenly, somehow the child broke loose from his mother and tumbled over the edge of the platform and into the path of an oncoming train … a train that would never have been able to stop in time to keep from running over the child.  Mayur Shelke saw the boy fall and jumped into action, seemingly without a second thought …

The railway held a small ceremony to honour Mr. Shelke for his bravery, and they also presented him with ₹50,000 (about $660 USD).  And you might think that this is the end of this story, yes?  No, it isn’t.  When Mr. Shelke received the reward, he gave half of it to the family of the little boy whose life he had saved …

“I’ll give half of the amount, given to me as token of appreciation, for that child’s welfare & education. I came to know that his family isn’t financially strong. So I decided this.”
