What The GOP Looks Like In The 21st Century

Filosofa's Word

Is there a single member of the former guy’s inner circle who isn’t in deep legal doo-doo?  First, there’s Giuliani whose home and office were raided by the FBI last week and who is in more than one pot of boiling water.  Then there’s Jared Kusher whose apartment company has been charged with repeatedly violating state consumer protection laws by collecting debts without required licenses, charging tenants improper fees and misrepresenting the condition of rental units.  Former Attorney General William Barr is being investigated for a possible conflict of interest in the case against heavy-equipment manufacturer Caterpillar Inc., and the list goes on.  Hopefully, at the end of the day, charges and indictments come down against the former guy himself, for he is undoubtedly at the helm of most of these issues.  It is my fondest hope to see the former guy in an orange jumpsuit and behind bars for…

The dark side of light

themacbit

A friend recently shared an article with me, “18 Things You Will Never Understand Until You Experience Them Yourself“. I tried to come up with something that we understand only after experiencing it. After a lot of brainstorming and experimenting, I have a practical answer. The beauty of the night sky is one such thing we realize only after experiencing it.

Finding a night sky is very difficult nowadays! There are some fortunate days when we travel outside of cities, on dark roads/forests. The mere sight of beautiful stars is soothing. If you don’t believe me, try it by yourself(travel to an isolated beach/forest/village and experience firsthand).

The ambient light we are wasting shooting in the sky harms us a lot. I recently read that light pollution is the only pollution we can clean up instantly! High time to take some action. If not for the…

China’s UN envoy: Myanmar violence could lead to civil war – The Washington Post (Me: significant move)

China’s U.N. ambassador on Monday urged stronger diplomatic efforts to resolve the confrontation in Myanmar since the Feb. 1 military coup, warning that further violence could lead to a chaotic situation “and even a civil war.”

Zhang Jun also warned that “any wrong handling” might lead to further tension in Myanmar.

The U.N. Security Council on Friday strongly backed calls by Southeast Asian nations for an immediate cessation of violence and talks as a first step toward a solution following the military coup in Myanmar that ousted civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi and her party and reversed years of slow progress toward democracy.

The council again demanded the restoration of democracy and the release of all detainees including Suu Kyi and condemned the use of violence against peaceful protesters and the deaths of hundreds of civilians.

Bella Ciao

themacbit

you will bury me over there on the mountain

under the shadow of a wonderful flower

and all the people passing by

will say “what a wonderful flower!”

e seppellire lassù in montagna
sotto l’ombra di un bel fior.
utte le genti che passeranno
mi diranno: «Che bel fior!»

These artistic lines are from a famous Italian song, Bella Ciao. In the song, a courageous man leaves his love of life behind, to fight invasion from the enemy. “Bella Ciao” translates to, “Goodbye, my beautiful.”. We might know this song from the Money Heist show, but the song carries much more emotion and history. As our friends from Europe would say, Bella Ciao is an emotion first, and a song second.

Bella Ciao originated as a folk song during the late 19th century in rural Italy. Workers near the river Po basin used to sing the “Mondine” version of this…
