In Puerto Rico, hundreds of protesters have taken to the streets in recent days in response to the femicides of 27-year-old Keishla Rodríguez and 35-year-old Andrea Ruiz. Ruiz’s body was found Friday, covered in burns. Her ex-partner confessed to her murder. Ruiz had sought protection against him, but the courts denied it. And Rodríguez — who was pregnant — was found lifeless floating in the San José Lagoon Saturday after being reported missing the day before. Prominent boxer Félix Verdejo Sánchez, who represented Puerto Rico at the 2012 Olympics, has been charged with Rodríguez’s murder. Feminist leaders are demanding Puerto Rican Governor Pedro Pierluisi take action against skyrocketing gender violence on the island.
I’m just so happy to write this poem for so many reasons. Firstly, this song by Dua Lipa is just so fun. It’s not from my usual old depressing ancient song collection. It’s on the top charts currently both internationally as well as in India. The version I am obsessed with however, is the Indian remix of it, featuring Sukriti Kakar and Prakriti Kakar. It has these typical amazing Indian beats and instrumentals added in the background. Later, as the song progresses, it goes full bhangra with hardcore Punjabi beats and a few Hindi lines in between. I can’t stop playing this song. And guess what? This is the first music-inspired poem I am writing that falls into both – Western Music-Inspired as well as Bollywood-Inspired. Fusion is so fun. For my friends abroad, please listen to this version. I guarantee you’ll like it, if not find it better. 😉
This study is designed to assess the safety and toxicity/adverse events associated with the use of low dose fractionated whole brain irradiation in those patients who have been diagnosed with probable Alzheimer’s disease according to the National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke and the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association (NINCDS-ADRDA) criteria. As a secondary goal it will establish whether or not the intervention with low dose whole brain irradiation might change the recognized progression of Alzheimer’s Disease. The investigators will also collect information from the AMYVID ® (florbetaben F 18 Injection) positron emission tomography (PET) Scans to determine if there is any correlation between neurocognitive/quality of life scores and changes in amyloid plaque size, number and location. This study will investigate the safety and efficacy of the investigational use of the HydraSolve T2D™ System in improving blood glucose control and insulin resistance in patients with obesity (Class 1, BMI 30-39.9 kg/m2) and type 2 diabetes who have not achieved targeted levels of blood glucose control using oral diabetes medications. The previously FDA-cleared (for liposuction and fat transfer) HydraSolve T2D™ System will be used to perform a novel, minimally invasive laparoscopic and mini-laparotomy procedure to selectively remove excess intra-abdominal fat from the mesentery (Mesenteric Visceral Lipectomy (MVL)), while not affecting surrounding tissues. The study will include several weeks of screening for eligibility before the intervention, and 12-months of follow-up post-surgery. It is hard to arrive at the exact number of Allied trials held in Asia, as there continues to be access restrictions to some national trial records. Some latest estimates of the number of war crimes trials held by different national authorities in Asia are as follows: China (605 trials), the US (456 trials), the Netherlands (448 trials), Britain (330 trials), Australia (294 trials), the Philippines (72 trials), and France (39 trials). In 1956, China prosecuted another four cases involving 1062 defendants, out of which 45 were sentenced and the rest acquitted. The Allies conducted these trials before military courts pursuant to national laws of the Allied Power concerned. Altogether 2244 war crimes prosecutions were conducted in Asia. 5700 defendants were prosecuted: 984 defendants were executed; 3419 sentenced to imprisonment; and 1018 acquitted. Experts believe 77% of the human population has some level of stage fright. Yesterday, I was chatting with a new reader of our blog, my new friend Eddie(changed name). He shared the problem of his stage fright. As promised, this article is dedicated to the ghost inside our brains and the butterflies inside our stomach.
I went back to my psychology notes to figure out the truth. Fear of performing in public is often driven by the fear of embarrassment. We worry about being perceived or judged by others. Extreme fear of public speaking is called Glossophobia.
The other day, I was playing with my four-year-old cousin. Her mischievous and funny acts entertain me a lot. I am never bored of playing with children. The children don’t worry about being judged. Despite having no intention, they hook the attention of the audience with their mischiefs. Children teach us great lessons…

Sher and I were thrilled a couple of days ago when we saw for just a second a stunning Pileated Woodpecker who came in and landed on our tree. Almost immediately it took off. Yesterday, however, another (maybe the same?) Pileated female came in and ended up feeding from one of the suet cages.
Notice the little Nuthatch that photobombed the video? The size of Wilma seems to have spooked it from the suet cage.
