Germany to approve Johnson & Johnson Covid vaccine for adults of all ages | Coronavirus | The Guardian

Germany is making the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus jab available to all adults irrespective of age or pre-existing health conditions, as the country switches to a twin-track strategy to counteract hesitancy around viral vector-based vaccines among older people.

The German health minister, Jens Spahn, announced on Monday that anyone who wished would be able to receive the one-shot J&J vaccine, as long as they had been made aware of the extremely low risk of a rare blood-clotting condition linked to the jab in the US.

Top female GOP senator compares Cheney ousting to ‘cancel culture’ | TheHill

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), the only woman in Senate Republicans’ elected leadership team, compared efforts to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from leadership to “cancel culture,” and argued that the party should be focused on unifying heading into 2022.

“I feel it’s OK to go ahead and express what you feel is right to express and, you know, cancel culture is cancel culture no matter how you look at it. Unfortunately, I think there are those that are trying to silence others in the party,” Ernst told reporters on Monday asked about Cheney’s likely ouster.

Researchers Say They’ve Uncovered a Massive Facebook Bot Farm From the 2020 Election – Mother Jones (Me: what did Facebook know and not care vs when they know and did something?Facebook not talking)

According to Paul Bischoff of Comparitech, a British cybersecurity company, the network includes 13,775 unique Facebook accounts that each posted roughly 15 times per month, for an output of more than 50,000 posts a week. The accounts appear to have been used for “political manipulation,” Bischoff says, with roughly half the posts being related to political topics and another 17 percent related to COVID-19. Each account has a profile photo and friends list—likely consisting of other bots, the researchers suggest—and they’ve joined “specific Facebook groups where their posts are more likely to be seen and discussed by legitimate users.”

A Facebook representative said the company would look into a sample of the accounts identified by Comparitechbut declined further comment.

Japan opposition leader says Tokyo Olympics cannot be held safely

The leader of Japan’s main opposition party said Monday there is no way to safely hold the Tokyo Olympics this summer, questioning Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga’s assurances that sufficient COVID-19 measures will be in place.

“Unfortunately, we have to say it is impossible to protect the lives, health and livelihoods of the Japanese people while holding the Olympics and Paralympics,” Yukio Edano, head of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, said in a parliamentary session.

Dawson’s Magnolia?

Michael Stephen Wills Photography

The Magnolia genus has been around for eons, come characteristics are protective from beetles as they existed before bees and relied upon beetles for fertilization. Our’s may be the species Magnolia dawsoniana (Dawson’s Magnolia), it shares many of the published characteristics: among them tolerance to our hardiness zone 5, flower color and shape, tree growth pattern.

This was an exceptional year for blooms. starting late April, lasting into May. The fence around trunks is for protection against bucks (male deer), from rubbing their horns in autumn.

For most of these 2021 photographs I used the lens Canon 24 mm f/1.4L II USM, the one captioned 50 mm I used Canon 50mm f/1.2L USM. The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV dslr with the Manfrotto Studio tripod with hydrostatic ball head for all.
