Welcome to The Gun Show

sad and no end in sight –

Grounds For Hope

Stockpile military weapons,
Stockpile high-volume gun clips
Spread of infested rats through the country.
Is it our fate?
Is this the end? Predicted apocalypse?
Registered, unregistered, and ghost weapons
are used to kill at a family dispute.
With a single trigger within seconds
They silence us; they make us strangely mute.
A simple graduation party, a school, a mall, a club,
A postal office or a quiet walk on a beach
Become target zones – this is no figure of speech.
America, the land of free without freedom
A gun behind the back and friendly “Hello”
Hunting own demons every season
America, welcome to the gun show.

Attacks make Vancouver ‘anti-Asian hate crime capital of North America’ | Canada | The Guardian

Steven Ngo had stopped at a traffic light in a residential neighbourhood in the eastern part of Vancouver when passengers in another car tossed garbage at him, shouting racial slurs as they sped off. The lawyer, a lifelong resident of the city, was stunned – but not surprised. “The racism has never been as overt and apparent,” said Ngo. “I’ve never seen it so brazen.” Over the last year, Vancouver, a cosmopolitan metropolis set between mountains and ocean, has experienced a 717% increase in anti-Asian hate crimes. The grim figures, which experts believe underreport the problem, reflect a legacy of discrimination in a city and country widely seen as welcoming of newcomers.

Snarky Sunday Snippets

Filosofa's Word

I look at the news these days, and there are no headlines screaming at me, no nefarious tweets by the former guy that send me straight into fight mode, but still … it takes only about 5 minutes of trolling the news to set my teeth on edge.  Too many things just aren’t right in this country.  And so … sigh … it’s time for me to share a few snarky snippets from the aged, ancient mind.

WHY NOT???

At least five members of the United States military have been charged for participating in the attack on the Capitol on January 6th, and yet not a single one has been relieved of their duty in the military.  In other words … to put it quite bluntly … the very people who attempted to overthrow our government are still the ones we are relying on to defend us against…
