It has long been obvious that Mitch McConnell puts party before country, but this week he actually admitted it. The Senate minority leader told Republican colleagues that they should oppose the creation of a Jan. 6 commission, no matter how it is structured, because it “could hurt the party’s midterm election message,” as Politico’s Burgess Everett reported. And so, as early as Thursday, McConnell will use the filibuster to thwart a bipartisan effort to prevent further attacks on the U.S. government by domestic terrorists — because he thinks it’s good politics for Republicans. “That is extremely frustrating and disturbing,” Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), the Democrat working hardest to protect the minority’s filibuster rights, told reporters. “There’s a time when you rise above [politics], and I’m hoping that this would be the time that he would do that. I guess, from what I am hearing, he hasn’t.”
“Tens of thousands of people died, who didn’t need to die,” Cummings added.
At a marathon seven-hour evidence session, the former Downing Street insider painted a picture of policy failure, dithering and a government that had no useful plan for handling a pandemic.
He told MPs: “The truth is that senior ministers, senior officials, senior advisers like me fell disastrously short of the standards that the public has a right to expect of its government in a crisis like this.”
He added: “I would like to say to all the families of those who died unnecessarily how sorry I am for the mistakes that were made and for my own mistakes at that.”

Police say 55 people were arrested Tuesday as they enforced a British Columbia court injunction ordering the removal of blockades aimed at preventing old-growth logging on southwestern Vancouver Island.
The RCMP say the protesters who gathered along a forest service road west of Lake Cowichan were given a chance to leave or face arrest, and nine of those taken into custody had been arrested in previous days.

… And the time comes when you have to depart
Scintillating chords pervades your heart
Pain drills in like a piercing dart
To bottle up your Effervescent tears is truly an art
Hues of yesteryears comes alive
How ecstatically we all used to thrive
Not foreknown about ensuing lives
Living in that very moment used to be our drive
How life leaves us into a labyrinth, I wonder
Priorities change and our yearnings surrender
Into the alleys, in a cavern and we wander
But every second, life does smoulder
Time elapses, so does our age
But those fire flies remain encased in our rib cage
Effulgence of togetherness often flares from those cherished pages
As we perpetually stow away in our life’s carriage.

Once again, the urge to be snarky is upon me … well, in truth I can’t remember the last time I didn’t feel the urge to be snarky! There is just so much wrong these days … it’s either let it out, else it will explode and pieces of me will be scattered for miles!
Persona non grata – even by Republicans!
I hear that Mike Lindell, that infamous pillow dude who was a chief boot-licker of the former guy, isn’t doing so well these days. First, back in February he was sued by Dominion Voting Systems for $1.3 billion in a defamation suit accusing him of repeatedly and falsely saying that Dominion’s voting machines had stolen the election for Biden.
Then there’s his company, MyPillow, that has got to be suffering, considering that numerous stores have stopped carrying his product as a result of his political views, though most…
