OSS Unit 101 – American/Kachin Rangers

OSS Unit 101

After the withdrawal of the two Chinese divisions back to China, from Burma, ordered by Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, this left a large void in the area in which they operated. The British were unable to fill the area with troops vacated by the Chinese and thus the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) Detachment 101 was tasked the mission with its “Kachin Rangers,” numbering 10,800 indigenous soldiers at the time, at full strength, comprising four (4) battalions.

During most of the unit’s existence, it funded and coordinated various resistance groups made up of the Kachin people of northern Burma. The best known resistance force was known as the Kachin Rangers and was under the command of Carl F. Eifler, though often the term Kachin Rangers has been used to describe all Kachin Forces raised during the war by the Americans in Northern Burma.

How to Honor Those You Know Who Have Died from Covid-19

Will repeat until it is no longer needed…

Ned Hamson's Second Line View of the News

1, Remember them well and share about them.

2. If you are not vaccinated, get vaccinated to live and to carry on and share the memories of the one(s) you lost.

3. Do what ever you can to get those you know and care about to get each of them vaccinated if not already vaccinated.

4. Write or call your state representative and senator and let them know that you expect them to do whatever is needed to assure that people get vaccinated.

5. Write or call your United States representative and senators and let them know that you expect them to do whatever is needed to assure that people get vaccinated.

Remind people that if the vaccinations for small pox were not mandatory, hundreds of thousands of people would still be dying around the world from small pox. The same applies to polio vaccines. If they had not been…

Utah’s Republican governor said anti-vaccine rhetoric from some on the right is ‘literally killing their supporters’ | Business Insider Africa

Utah’s Republican governor said Friday that anti-vaccine messaging is “killing people” and pleaded with his state’s residents to get vaccinated.

During a news conference Friday, a reporter asked Governor Spencer Cox how harmful anti-vaccine rhetoric, particularly from right-wing sources, has been to the state’s vaccination effort.

“I think it’s ridiculous,” Cox said after praising former President Donald Trump’s Operation Warp Speed. “I don’t think we can take credit for the vaccine and then tell people that there’s something wrong with the vaccine.”

“We have these – these talking heads who have gotten the vaccine and are telling other people not to get the vaccine. That kind of stuff is just, it’s ridiculous. It’s dangerous, it’s damaging, and it’s killing people,” Cox said. “I mean, it’s literally killing their supporters. And that makes no sense to me.”

Trump Supporter: Capitol Rioters ‘There to Overthrow the Government’: Book

“We weren’t there to steal things,” Kiczenski, who entered the Capitol on January 6, said, according to the book excerpt. “We weren’t there to do damage. We were just there to overthrow the government.”

But when Trump took to Twitter to urge his supporters to go home, Kiczenski said she felt sad and confused, Bender wrote.

“We were supposed to be fighting until the end,” she said.

Birds from Walden Humming Bird

Words from Walden

Humming bird

The hummingbird is a special sight to behold. This miniature, magical, majestic bird comes in many colours and sizes. It can be seen flapping its wings so fast that it appears to be floating on the spot.

This little creature is a marvel of physics and biology.

It is the only bird in the garden that can fly backwards whichaking it only add in making it a true joy and delight to watch. A pretty remarkable trait and in a sense, a animal super power

There is a tiny green hummingbird that frequents the feeder. It is so small that it can sit on the edge of the feeder and drink the sugary “nectar “without the humming sound of energy buzzing in the background.

Most of the hummingbirds around Walden have beaks the same length as their body,

Attracted by a simple mix of 1 part sugar and 4…

How Covid-19 Has Upended Life in Undervaccinated Arkansas – The New York Times (Me: wish them all well but self-delusion about vaccines is driving killer Covid-19)

When the boat factory in this leafy Ozark Mountains city offered free coronavirus vaccinations this spring, Susan Johnson, 62, a receptionist there, declined the offer, figuring she was protected as long as she never left her house without a mask.

Linda Marion, 68, a widow with chronic pulmonary disease, worried that a vaccination might actually trigger Covid-19 and kill her. Barbara Billigmeier, 74, an avid golfer who retired here from California, believed she did not need it because “I never get sick.”

Last week, all three were patients on 2 West, an overflow ward that is now largely devoted to treating Covid-19 at Baxter Regional Medical Center, the largest hospital in north-central Arkansas. Mrs. Billigmeier said the scariest part was that “you can’t breathe.” For 10 days, Ms. Johnson had relied on supplemental oxygen being fed to her lungs through nasal tubes.

Ms. Marion said that at one point, she felt so sick and frightened that she wanted to give up. “It was just terrible,” she said. “I felt like I couldn’t take it.”

Yet despite their ordeals, none of them changed their minds about getting vaccinated. “It’s just too new,” Mrs. Billigmeier said. “It is like an experiment.”
