Fotos des Monats, September 2024 / … Photos of the month, September 2024 – Stella, oh, Stella

… There are eight this month; I couldn’t decide.

Als erstes ein Sonnenuntergang. … First of all a sunset.

Dann ein paar vom Garten. … Then a few from the garden.

An einem warmen Septemberabend in meiner Frauenhöhle.
… On a warm September evening in my woman cave.
Meine prachtvolle Canna.
… My wonderful canna. The colour of the flowers range from uni-orange to uni-yellow with all thinkable mixtures in between, even with orange dots. Also the green leaves can be uni-coloured green or variegata. This plant gives me a lot of joy, and I hope to get it through the winter alive.
… This almost looks like an actinia, doesn’t it?
… One from our excursion on the North Sea and Baltic canal, about which I haven’t reported yet. I thought that the two mirrors to the right and left of the bull’s eye gave an interesting effect.

Unser neuestes Einrichtungselement.
… Our latest addition to the interior design. Except for the vase, which a good friend gave us, everything is from second-hand shops. The mirror makes the flower bouquet look double the size.

Und abschliessend noch ein Sonnenuntergang. … And finally, another sunset.

… We had a lot of beautiful sunny days in September; that was very pleasant.

Idaho State Senator Tells Native American Candidate To “Go Back Where You Came From” – Mother Jones

After Trish Carter-Goodheart, a Democrat running for a House seat, pointed out that discrimination and racism exist in Idaho, Foreman reportedly lost his temper and told her to “go back where you came from.”

Among the various problems with that statement, Carter-Goodheart happens to be a member of the Nez Perce tribe, which has a reservation smack in the middle of District 6. She was where she came from. Foreman, as the radio piece noted, was born in Illinois. (Foreman did not respond to Boise State Public Radio for comment.)

Foreman is not the only Western politician to make offensive remarks about Native Americans recently—Republican US Senate candidate Tim Sheehy admitted to doing the same, and his Democratic rival, incumbent Jon Tester, has made it a campaign issue.

Calmes: Donald Trump’s firehose of lies matters – Los Angeles Times

The New York Times fact-checked Trump’s 63-minute jabbering at a recent Las Vegas campaign stop and found 64 false, inaccurate or misleading remarks — one a minute. That mendacity wasn’t even a record. A contender for the distinction would be Trump’s 64-minute August news conference at Mar-a-Lago that was more monologue than Q&A: He racked up at least 162 lies, misstatements and vast exaggerations by NPR’s count — about 2.5 a minute.

And of course there’s the final tally on his presidency from the Washington Post’s Fact Checker, dispenser of those ignominious Pinocchios: a total 30,573 lies and misleading statements and tweets. That’s nearly 20 a day, starting on Day 1 with Trump’s lies about the size of his inauguration crowd and the weather — he denied it rained, when former President George W. Bush’s meme-worthy struggles with a poncho clearly proved otherwise — and, in his inaugural address, about the supposed “carnage” he’d inherited. (“That was some weird s—,” Bush muttered as he exited.)

Trump has been lying ever since, most ominously in still denying his 2020 defeat at virtually every rally. The dishonesty has mounted as he runs again for reelection. Pathological lying ought to be a disqualifier for the office, yet for nearly half the electorate it’s not. Sure, shading the truth is a feature of politics, not a bug. But lying on Trump’s scale is a bug, and a venomous one.

The Born to Run singer praises Harris and Tim Walz’s commitment to ‘the vision of America I’ve been consistently writing about for 55 years’

Bruce Springsteen has officially thrown his support behind Kamala Harris, endorsing her for president and simultaneously opposing Donald Trump, calling him “the most dangerous candidate for president in my lifetime”.

The Born to Run singer made the announcement in a video posted to his Instagram on Thursday evening (US time) in which he described the upcoming election as “one of the most consequential elections in our nation’s history”.

“Perhaps not since the Civil War has this great country felt as politically, spiritually and emotionally divided as it does at this moment. It doesn’t have to be this way.”
