Treatment with ivermectin did not result in a lower incidence of medical admission to a hospital due to progression of Covid-19 or of prolonged emergency department observation among outpatients with an early diagnosis of Covid-19. Vaccine effectiveness against reinfection was estimated at 82% among patients who were 16 to 64 years of age and 60% among those 65 years of age or older. It is surprising that reinfection rates among older patients were substantially lower than those among younger patients (regardless of vaccination status). These lower rates may reflect additional safety measures taken by patients in the older age group to guard against reinfection. Hall et al. evaluated the duration of infection-induced immunity among 9488 persons with documented previous SARS-CoV-2 infection in a prospective cohort of health care workers in the United Kingdom who had undergone testing every 2 weeks. The authors estimated the effectiveness of the BNT162b2 vaccine against reinfection in this population. In unvaccinated persons, the estimated protection against reinfection was 86% within a year after the initial infection and 69% beyond a year. In vaccinated persons, vaccination more than 1 year after the primary infection increased protection to approximately 94%, a level at which it remained for more than 6 months. Notably, 95% of the participants in the cohort had received two doses of vaccine by the end of th

Luzon
“The advance had been so swift that the Japs who had the steel-trussed span mined were caught on the far side of it. They attempted to get to their detonator but our fire from the west bank of the Palico killed six and forced the rest to withdraw toward Tagaytay Ridge. Capture of the bridge allowed us to keep moving ahead. Its destruction would have seriously delayed us since our engineers did not have the equipment to replace it. Bypassing would have been difficult because the Palico River flows in a deep, steep-sided canyon, as do most of the Luzon Rivers.”___ Gen. E.M. Flanagan
The 6th and 8th Armies on Luzon were repeatedly in close and brutal combat with the Japanese. By dawn on 4 February the paratroopers ran into increasingly heavy and harassing fire from Japanese riflemen and machine gunners. At the Paranaque River, just south of…

I’m…Eu estou
Sobre a leitura:
Eu não entendia
Nem sabia
Que a leitura
Não era só
Lida mas vivida.
Eu não entendia
Como a leitura
Vinha junto
Com a escrita.
Eu não entendia
Que era tão especial
Tão sensacional.
Estou ainda
Vivendo e aprendendo
Com a ajuda
Da leitura
Da escrita
E da minha vida.
Com amor: Coisas da SiL

I’m
About reading:
I didn’t understand
I didn’t even know
that reading
it wasn’t just
Read but lived.
I didn’t understand
like reading
came along
With writing.
I didn’t understand
that was so special
So sensational.
I’m still
Living and learning
With the help
from reading
from writing
And my life.
With love: Things from SiL

MONDAY MOTIVATION
Jolly-less and Joyful-less Monday!
Good Monday morning, my friends! It seems that Jolly and Joyful are MIA (that stands for Missing In Action) this morning, so it falls on me to try to dig humour out of thin air … just wait ‘til I get my hands on those two for abandoning me! So, if the food and the humour are not quite up to par this morning, it is all my fault, but I’ll give it my best and see what I can scrounge up in the kitchen!

Since everybody, myself included, seems to love the Pickles cartoons, I thought I’d start off with a few of those …

And a few other cartoons …

Last week … or was it the week before … I came across a few short video clips I thought might give you a laugh or two …

A few humorous little memes …

How a Jaipur-based man became a hero for stray dogs – Towards A Better Life
A unique kitchen in Jaipur, Bejubano Ki Rasoi, is feeding freshly cooked meals to countless stray dogs at just Rs 5.
Jaipur-based Gajraj Singh Kachhawa leads the initiative.Gajraj Singh Kachhawa, a Jaipur local, sat at a tea vendor on a cold winter morning, sipping hot sweet tea.
As he was about to depart, a man approached the vendor, bought a packet of biscuits, and fed a street dog. This idea stayed with Gajraj, who went on to start Bejubano Ki Rasoi (Kitchen For The Voiceless), where a pre-packaged nutritious meal for a dog costs only Rs 5.”I’ve been feeding dogs on my own for almost five years now,” Gajraj explains.
When the lockdown was implemented, there were a large number of people who were delivering food for others. The street dogs, on the other hand, suffered the most. No one wanted to feed or even care for them. During this…
