Ein wenig verspätet wegen der Camping-Tour nach Deutschland.
… A bit delayed because of the camping tour to Germany.

… And its wild sister, which has settled itself in my garden.

… Behind this bland fence, somebody has built a fanciful garden wall, using an old ruin, enhancing it with many different ingredients, almost a bit Hundertwasser-ry. Seen in Lauenburg.

… View from our camping site to the opposite bank of the river Elbe, with sunset.
Ich habe ganz viele Fotos auf dieser Kurzreise gemacht. Ich…

Twitter Admits To Risk of Losing Advertisers, Staff Due To Musk Takeover – Slashdot
Among the many new risks related to the transactional nature of the Musk deal — like if the merger is delayed or doesn’t close (the latter which comes with a billion-dollar financial hit to Twitter, for instance) — the company said it’s exposed to new risks related to its “business relationships, financial condition, operating results, cash flows, and business,” including “whether advertisers continue their spending on our platform.” As the company explains further in the filing, amid its ongoing risk factors, it continues to generate the “substantial majority of our revenue from advertising” and its loss could harm the business. It notes as well that if its reputation among advertisers declined, it may be less competitive.
[T]he company also acknowledged a more immediate threat of employee departures and an inability to effectively recruit as other potential ramifications of the merge, and noted that “current employees could be distracted, and their productivity decline as a result, due to uncertainty regarding the merger.” Source: Twitter Admits To Risk of Losing Advertisers, Staff Due To Musk Takeover – Slashdot
Experts Say Black Voters are Targeted by Misinformation Campaigns
Experts warned Congress that Black voters and voters of color are targeted with misinformation which may greatly affect the outcome of the midterm elections, reported NBC News. In addition to the hurdles put in place with voting restrictions, now Black voters have been discouraged from voting due to false narratives around their power to vote.
Joi Chaney, executive director of the National Urban League’s Washington bureau, told the House Administration committee that Black communities have been facing an increased number of disinformation campaigns. Per NBC, these campaigns were through a variety of social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook. The Senate Intelligence Committee’s investigation into the 2016 election found that Black people were targeted the most out of all other groups.

LAUSD Will Pay For High Speed Internet In Every Student Household, For A Year | LAist
LAUSD officials have also committed to purchase another 100,000 laptops and tablets over the next year — including 60,000 they intend to distribute by this summer — so that the district will have enough devices to ensure every student who needs one, has one at home. The district estimates one in five LAUSD students lacks internet at home or has substandard service. Early in the pandemic, the district relied on mobile wireless hotspots for these students. Now, any LAUSD family — regardless of income — can sign up through the district to receive fixed, in-home, broadband internet. District officials have contracted with Spectrum and AT&T to provide the service through June 2023.

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better
This post is pretty much a reminder that the only way to learn anything is by doing it badly, at first, and then: persisting! 🙂 It is also a tribute update of an old post: To Channon.
Some thoughts from back when I lived in Turkey, originally posted at the start of 2020’s global pandemic, but putting in a bit of order as I try to make sense of my longing to get back to languages before I forget them all (glad to see that I’ve improved quite a bit since then!), and to make time to learn all of the lessons from those places where I lived, searching for something that I am not sure how to find.
