What would Astérix do about Covid-19? (Learn a language to find out!)

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

Que ferait-il #Astérix le Galois dans ce periode de cris ? What would Asterix the Gaul do during this time of crisis?

Undoubtedly, he would call upon the esteemed local Druid, Panoramix, to teach
the villagers what to do. And certainly, Panoramix would say:

“Il faut absolument pas fumer, parce que ça agrave beaucoup les maladies respiratoires !”
“‪Absolutely #‎stopsmoking‬, because smoke makes respiratory illnesses much worse!”

Then, the renowned Druid would undoubtedly mix up a batch of his famous Potion Magique as a universal cure for the entire village, to assure the health of all. Of course, the villagers have the forest to hunt sangliers and grow their local organic food, so they don’t need a Universal Basic Income to continue to stay healthy, but we do.

Don’t believe me? Just watch Astérix et Obélix : Mission Cléopâtre -it is worth learning #Français (#French) to watch!

Curiosity, Courage, Warrior
Image Meme by Kym Gordon Moore

I decided to bring a snippet from a 2017 post I wrote after a brief exchange – conversation – debate with someone regarding the difference between nosiness and curiosity. This individual said the two are basically the same, except curiosity is a fancier way of saying a person is nosy. Oh, but you know I had to beg to differ.

“Being nosy is prying into other people’s business, meddling, being intrusive, and snooping, oftentimes gossiping about what they find out,” I said. To me, curiosity is more of a desire to learn something new that enhances one’s intellect and not about poking your nose in other people’s business for annoying reasons.

So honey, just so you’ll know, curiosity didn’t kill the cat, it merely educated her to be the badass that she is today!…

Monkeypox outbreak: What we know so far – POLITICO

Where are the cases?

In this most recent outbreak, the U.K. became the first country to detect a case of monkeypox on May 6. Since then, total of 20 people have been found with the disease in the country. The U.K. Health Security Agency said that these cases have mostly been among gay or bisexual men. The virus was also found elsewhere in Europe. Portugal reported 14 cases of monkeypox, and Spain confirmed 30 cases. Italy has three confirmed cases, Belgium two, and France and Sweden have one confirmed each case so far. Germany’s first case has been identified in Munich, Health Minister Karl Lauterbach confirmed at a G7 press conference on Friday.

Canada’s Public Health Agency confirmed two cases in the country. A case has also been reported in the U.S., with the man having recently traveled to Canada, while other possible cases are being monitored. Australia reports two confirmed cases.

Why are experts concerned?

The concern, expressed by virologist Marion Koopmans, is the fact that the cases of monkeypox have been detected in several different countries, given that monkeypox is ordinarily not very contagious. Koopmans, head of the Erasmus MC department of viroscience, tweeted Thursday that the outbreak is “starting to be worrisome.” She said that in the past that the occasional imported cases usually didn’t keep spreading. “In this situation, new cases have been detected in different countries,” she said. “That is very unusual.”
