Anti-vaccine Beverly Hills doctor sentenced to prison for Capitol riot – San Gabriel Valley Tribune

A Beverly Hills doctor who is a leading figure in the anti-vaccine movement was sentenced on Thursday to two months in prison for storming the U.S. Capitol, where she delivered speeches to rioters during the mob’s attack.

U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper in Washington, D.C., also sentenced Dr. Simone Gold to 12 months of supervised release after her 60-day prison term and ordered her to pay a $9,500 fine. She can report to prison at a date to be determined.

Gold, a former emergency room physician, said she deeply regrets entering the Capitol during the riot on Jan. 6, 2021, and didn’t intend to get involved in an event that was “so destructive to our nation.”

“It’s the opposite of who I am,” she told Cooper.

Gold founded America’s Frontline Doctors. a group known for purveying COVID-19 misinformation. The Beverly Hills-based doctor, a Stanford Law School graduate, has over 480,000 followers on Twitter. She has condemned COVID-19 lockdowns and promoted the use of unproven and potentially dangerous drugs as coronavirus treatments.

The judge told Gold that her anti-vaccine activism wasn’t a factor in her sentencing. Cooper said Gold wasn’t a “casual bystander” on Jan. 6.

The judge also said Gold’s organization has misled supporters into believing her prosecution was politically motivated and trampled on her free speech rights. Cooper called it “unseemly” that America’s Frontline Doctors has invoked the Capitol riot in raising money, including for her salary.

“I think that is a real disservice to the true victims of that day,” he said.

Gold pleaded guilty in March to entering and remaining in a restricted building, a misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison.

Vaccinations Rates Are Lower in Red States, and Not Just for Covid

CRAIN'S COMMENTS

Conservative areas have lower rates of vaccination for Covid-19. That statement shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone. However, the CDC is finding now that these same areas are showing lower rates of vaccination for the seasonal flu. (1)

The divergence is quite remarkable. For the flu season of 2021-2022:

  • Covid-19 vaccines: Use varied from 50% in Alabama to 81% in Rhode Island
  • Flu vaccines: Use varied from 31% in Mississippi to 59% in Connecticut

In the prior flu season, the variation in use of the flu vaccine was not nearly this great. For that reason, the CDC hypothesizes that the controversy stirred up over the Covid vaccines hurt acceptance of the flu vaccine.

That’s certainly one possibility. Another is that the controversy became a convenient excuse for people who don’t like needles to avoid them. In Democratic areas of the US, there is arguably peer pressure in favor of…

Groups of Monuments at Hampi, India – Grupa spomenika u Hampiju, Indija

Myrela

Reconhecimento do Universo

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

CRAIN'S COMMENTS

New research leveraging DNA has identified the origins of the Black Death or Plague that killed half or more of all humans in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa in the mid to late 1300s.(1)

The Plague was introduced to the Mediterranean region in 1347 from ships from Eastern trading centers. Researchers identified tombstones from 1337 and 1337 in Kyrgyzstan whose inscriptions mentioned a mysterious illness. DNA examination of the remains of the dead found traces of the bacteria, Yersinia pestis, which is the bacteria responsible for the plague.

The Plague is very much still around. This bacteria is carried by rodents and transmitted to humans when bitten. Because it’s a bacteria and not a virus, there are medications readily available now for treatment. However, if ignored, the bacteria can still cause critical illness and death. For that reason, it has found its way into chemical warfare arsenals.(3,4)

Shall We Stop Educating Our Children?

Filosofa's Word

Betsy DeVos served under the former administration as Secretary of Education. Ms. DeVos brought no qualifications in the field of education to the position – her only qualification was the huge sum of money (reported to be in the multi-million dollar range) she and her husband, Dick, had donated to the former guy’s campaign in 2016. Ms. DeVos was no more qualified than I for the position, and did an even worse job than I would have, but that is all water under the bridge, for she and her corrupt boss have left the federal government … or have they?

It seems these days that anybody and everybody who served in the former administration feels qualified to write a book, and they believe that we will pay money to read their first-hand experience, or drivel, which is what most of these books are. There are a few exceptions, such as
