Paloma

Sweet paloma
Has lost her wings
And her own heart is into pieces
The sky is no longer blue
Even the wind has gone away
Broken dreams
The whole world is against her
But she keeps struggling
Every day
Silence is a strength
Joy can be found through darkness
No time for regrets
No space for sadness
Fly paloma
One day you will be high.

Turkish Tuesdays: Sihirli Annem (My Magical Mother), other characters
Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better
I know many will like one of the favorite characters of this show:
Little orphan Strawberry!! Ok, her name is actually Çilek, which means strawberry, in Turkish -one look at her hair and you’ll know why!

Another important character is Firuze
: She is the housekeeper for the family, but much more than that, she is a stabilizing force for the kids, and also a connection to a world that they would otherwise have little direct connection with -the working class world.
Then, there is the Turkish equivalent of Bewitched subplot, with magical (usually bumblingly) mother-in-law
Dudu interfering in everyone’s lives, mostly not for the best, until forced to do so.
Main chars were mentioned last week, along with an explanation of this wonderful family show.
So, next week I hope to start reviewing this series, at last!

Change perspective
Sometimes we look for the comforting effect of stillness. Yet, if we want to really grow, progress, and improve we need to change, even our perspective, if needed.

What people get wrong about EVs
While the adoption of electric vehicles is increasing, some people, even those who want to get one, are held back. They say they can’t find one that meets their needs. But people often overestimate what they need their next car to do.

Herzberz and his colleagues conducted their study, published last week in the journal Nature Energy, by contacting almost 900 people split roughly evenly between Germany and the U.S. about their perception of EVs. They asked each person how often they make trips of different distances, and then asked them how much mileage they thought they’d need from an EV battery to complete each task. The researchers found that respondents significantly underestimated – by as much as 30 percent – how many of their daily tasks an EV could support.

A Few Thoughts From My Rambling Mind
I never thought I would see the day that I considered this nation to be anti-humanitarian, a nation that cares more for wealth than for people, but today I believe we have reached that stage in the development … or rather un-development … of the country. We can no longer hold our heads up proudly and say, “I am a U.S. citizen”, or as some would say, “I am an American.” Nothing to take pride in there, thanks largely to fanaticism – gun fanatics, religious fanatics, and wealth fanatics for whom billions of dollars is still not enough.
Literally the only thing that matters to Republican members of Congress today is re-election. When I read that Republicans running for re-election in states or districts where the majority voted for Democrats in 2020 refuse to comment on the outcome of the Dobbs v Jackson decision, then I think…

♫ You’ll Think Of Me ♫
For some reason, this song flew onto my radar last night and I was surprised to find that I had never played it here on Filosofa’s Word before. I’m not a fan of country music, with a few exceptions, but this song is what they call a ‘crossover’ song, having charted in three catagories: #1 Country, #2 Adult Contemporary, and #6 Adult Top 40.
Written by Darrell Brown, Dennis Matkosky and Ty Lacy, the song grew out of Lacy’s emotions surrounding a recent breakup. According to SongFacts …
