Homens compram o silêncio das amantes

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Controlled Substances

From Behind the Pen

You know, I cannot watch television and avoid commercials sometimes running simultaneously for some type of medication to take for just about every ailment you have or think you have, for conditions you can’t pronounce, and then for some problem you never heard of. Typically, we think of a controlled substance as alcohol, illegal drugs, prescribed drugs, or a combination of them. We are oversaturated with a fixation to expect that alleged miracle we see when people are happy and smiling at the end of the commercial. Just remember, they are actors.

But what about those non-medicinal controlled substances that send shock waves throughout our daily lives and can have more serious side effects than medicine? Things like greed, envy, hatred, injustice, self-righteousness, and jealousy? What about spirit-controlled extremist ideologies that control many minds and subsequently turn into malevolent actions? Or what about those conditions like…

Perfection

Seclusion 101 with AnneMarie

This came up on my Facebook feed this morning. It has probably been around forever but I do not remember seeing it before. This relates to everything that is wrong with the world today compared to when I was growing up.

Things are never black or white – they weren’t when I was young and they are not now, but generally speaking, we grew up learning to make the best of what we had – as our parents did, and their parents did before them.

Nowadays, people are so often the opposite. If it isn’t perfect, if it isn’t the best – it is worthless. Waste it, destroy it, and throw it away. ‘IT’ is everything – homes, vehicles, food, clothes, people (parents, siblings, partners, friends, anyone). As a society, ‘IT’ is healthcare, roads, education, the environment, natural resources. EVERYTHING. Waste it, destroy it, and throw it away.

Judges dismiss Knoxville Jewish couple’s suit alleging adoption bias | wbir.com (Me: Tennessee says ok to exclude Jews from state mandated training by a Christian adoption agency)

Tennessee judges have dismissed a lawsuit filed by a Knoxville couple who alleged that a state-sponsored Christian adoption agency refused to help them because they are Jewish.

The lawsuit challenged a 2020 state law that installed legal protections for private adoption agencies to reject state-funded placement of children to parents based on religious beliefs.

After first agreeing to help them, Holston in January 2021 informed them it wouldn’t enroll them in foster-parent training classes because “as a Christian organization, our executive team made the decision several years ago to only provide adoption services to prospective adoptive families that share our belief system in order to avoid conflicts or delays with future service delivery.”

Justice Department Secures Resolution in Madison County, Alabama, School Desegregation Case | OPA | Department of Justice

“It is long past time to deliver on the promises of Brown v. Board of Education for our nation’s students,” said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “We are committed to ensuring that all students receive the educational opportunities they deserve across the Madison County School District. The Civil Rights Division will continue to fight on behalf of students in school districts that have not yet fulfilled their legal obligation to eliminate racial segregation ‘root and branch.’” Source: Justice Department Secures Resolution in Madison County, Alabama, School Desegregation Case | OPA | Department of Justice

This 30-day initiative, called Operation North Star (ONS), resulted in the arrest of 1,501 fugitives, violent criminals, sex offenders, and self-identified gang members in Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Memphis, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

Operation North Star focused on fugitives wanted for the most serious, violent, and harmful offenses, including homicide, sexual assault, robbery, or aggravated assault. Good People Doing Good Things — Too Many To Count!

Filosofa's Word

It started with the pandemic in 2020 and a young college student, Aidan Reilly who was depressed …

“There was so much bad news. Economic collapse, political protests, social protests. It felt like there was very little that you could do about it.”

Aidan Reilly

Reilly and his childhood friend James Kanoff were reading and watching news about food shortages when they came up with what started out as a simple plan to rescue some eggs from a farm that were about to be thrown away and get them to a food bank for distribution. But it evolved into a project – Farmlink Project – that has ended up involving hundreds of volunteers and providing more than 70 million pounds of food to food pantries and other distribution organizations.  The food they provide is food that would have otherwise been wasted … but instead it is providing nourishment for families…
