How We End Gold Mining’s Ecocide For Good – Palm Oil Detectives

Gold mining in the Amazon devastates the Yanomami Boycott Gold

Gold mining is unparalleled in its environmental destruction and human rights toll. Frustratingly, 93% of gold is used for non-essential purposes like jewellery and investments.

recent study suggests that transitioning to a fully circular gold economy, relying entirely on recycled gold, is achievable. Recycling gold eliminates mercury use, reduces carbon and water footprints, and still supports industries like technology and jewellery. Human rights groups have long called for the end of this destructive industry. To end gold mining, investors should focus on existing reserves. Governments must ensure justice and ‘land back’ for displaced indigenous peoples; along with a just transition for miners. Make sure you #BoycottGold #BoycottGold4Yanomami and demand the end to gold mining right now!

What We Were – Saania’s diary – reflections, learnings, sparkles

Happy weekend, dear bloggers! Lately, I’ve found myself reflecting on the nature of friendships—how they bring light to our lives, yet leave us open to deep heartache. And far too many times, the cost we pay for true love is grief. Here’s a poem I wrote about the pain of a friendship falling apart. I hope it resonates with those of you who’ve felt the same!

What We Were

I’d hear you cry behind the bedroom wall
Ask softly what’s wrong, you’d spill it all
Late-night whispers, your heart laid bare
I would stay beside, till no pain was there

You were my anchor, too, my tether to the sea
When waves of life threatened to drown me
But now I ponder, in quiet despair
Is friendship a blessing, or a burden we bear?

Castles in the sky, they were our dreams
Our hearts entwined, as one they seemed
Now we stand on separate shores
Scattered stars—adrift, we’re on our own

A love, a flame, I thought would last
How did we let it burn so fast?
A bond, fragile, threads of gold
How could it twist into something cold?

I pass you now, meeting your eyes
Those once sparkled, now don’t recognize
We, who were once intertwined
Now walk as strangers, left behind

I hear you talk to someone new
They give you the smile I once gave you
The hugs I gave to no one but you
The laugh, the giggles, the secrets too

The tea we sipped, our talks so deep
The movie we watched as the world fell asleep
You now live those tales with others near
While I ache in silence, wishing you’d hear

I stumbled, faltered, so did you
If only we could start over, begin anew
Tears like rain, I tremble, I fall—
Wasn’t what we had worth fighting for?

A bond I believed could never break,
A masterpiece no storm could shake
But today you walk, from me you part
Leaving behind a shattered heart…
