Yukon Gold Potato Medley
What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? Bright Ideas: Yukon Gold Potato Medley! For my friends who like their veggies, and prefer a meatless diet, here’s a quick way to combine potatoes, carrots, and onions into a very filling meal. It has herbs to enhance flavor, and delicious butter to combat hunger pangs. Plus, butter makes everything taste drool-worthy. Amirite? Did I ever tell you, every time I refill the butter dish, if there is even a sliver of butter in the wrapper, I swipe it across my finger and slip it into my mouth? True confessions. After all, I import the butter from France, so I’m not going to waste one dab.

♫ Blowin’ In The Wind ♫
Yesterday, I played a song that I thought I had only played once, back in 2019! In his comment, Clive said he still liked it, just as he had when I played it two months ago! I went back and re-checked the archives, and sure ’nuff, I had played it back in August! My mind … I tell you, I’m losing it! So, it is with some trepidation that I tell you I last played this one back in August 2019 … but I really think that was the only time I’ve played it before! Honest!
This morning’s post was my reflection about the divisiveness in this nation, about how far apart those on the political right and left are, and whether there is any hope for a meeting in the middle, or whether we are bent on the destruction of the nation. When you spend as much time as…

What Do Democrats Have To Offer?
As most of you know, I have high regard for Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont. As an Independent and a democratic-socialist, he stands about as much chance of ever rising to the presidency as I do, but he’s a good man who is far more concerned with the people of the world than he is with corporate wealth. He recently published an OpEd in The Hill that I think is well worth reading as election day creeps closer and closer …
Sen. Sanders: Why we need to expand the Democratic majority in Congress
25 October 2022
As we enter the final weeks of the 2022 midterm elections, poll after poll shows that the most important issues facing the American people are the economy and inflation. This should come as no surprise.
As corporate profits soar, and as billionaires become even richer, working class Americans are falling further behind…

Greenpeace urges governments to stop deep sea mining at upcoming negotiations in Jamaica (and thank you, New Zealand!)
The International Seabed Authority (ISA) is meeting again at its headquarters in Kingston, from October 31 to November 11. So, what has changed since the last meeting, and what are the prospects for this one?
Well, the good news is that the New Zealand Government today (October 27, 2022) decided to support a global moratorium on deep sea mining. Huge appreciation to Foreign Affairs Minister Hon Nanaia Mahuta and to all those who campaigned hard in New Zealand to make this happen.

Now, when are Caribbean governments going to take a stand in support of their brothers and sisters in the small island states of the Pacific? I know that Caribbean youth are speaking out on deep sea mining and the Jamaica Climate Change Youth Council wrote to Jamaica’s Prime Minister in July expressing their concerns. More on that to follow!
