THERE WAS APARTHEID, AND THERE IS STILL APARTHEID — IF WE CHOOSE TO LOOK AT THE TRUTH — Filosofa’s Word

Originally posted on Ideas From Outside the Boxes: On Sept. 12, 1977, Bantu Stephen Biko was murdered by the South African government. They considered him the biggest threat to their apartheid way of life. Little did they know that he had already accomplished his goal of raising the consciousness of the black people of South…

An old lullaby

————

you return home
a prize in hand
your heart light

many felt lightheaded
as they watched you laughed

while I was in awe of the United States of America
like waiting butterflies I hovered
eyes wishful

my two tiny hands giddy
in front of all the candy
I wanted to taste everything

I wanted to take one and run
take and run
run and take
like in revolutions
a disappearing fog in my head
my childhood…

Bài hát ru ngày xưa

a prize in hand

bạn trở về nhà tay đầy món quà và bạn trở nên dễ chịu nhìn bạn cười nhiều người muốn xỉu khi tôi khám phá ra nước Mỹ như loài bướm chờ đợi bay trong ánh mắt xa…

Raise Your Vibration By Laughing + Two Funny Images For You

Ideas and Advice for How To Live a Joyful and Empowered Life.

Laughing is a way to lift our mood and when our mood is lifted we are in a more magnetic vibration – meaning we will attract the things and experiences that we want faster. Whenever I feel my mood going down or I catch myself going negative, I do a number of things to get back to a good vibration as soon as possible so I don’t delay my manifestations. Laughing is one of the things I do. Sometimes I will think of something funny that happened in the past. Sometimes I’ll watch a funny show or movie. Sometimes I’ll talk to a funny friend or be goofy with my daughter.

I’ve recently created two funny images that I’m including here in case they will help you laugh, and these images can be purchased on different products if you like them. Below are a few of those products but the…

ICE released names of 6,252 immigrants seeking protection – Los Angeles Times – (Me: Why do I have a hard time believing this was an accident?)

Many immigrants fear that gangs, governments, or individuals back home will find out that they sought protection in the U.S. Asylum-seekers regularly ask their immigration lawyers whether their home countries will find out about their applications. In one case documented by Human Rights Watch, a Cameroonian man the U.S. deported to his home country was summoned to court upon his return for “having, in the United States, spread false news . . . by declaring to be a victim of abuses by the Cameroonian Government.” Source: ICE released names of 6,252 immigrants seeking protection – Los Angeles Times

Review: Secret City: A History of Race Relations in the Nation’s Capital, By Constance M. Green

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

An excellent survey of the mostly forgotten history of Washington, DC (particularly the city’s 2nd race riots, in 1919, which we were not taught about at Dunbar!). The only fault is that Morty Kaplan was actually Marvin Caplan, of Shepherd Park, founder of Neighbor’s Inc. Otherwise, Green does a superb job of describing a history which needs updating (which was partly why I wrote “Stayed on Freedom’s Call,”

StayedOnFreedomsCallGoodReads StayedOnFreedomsCallGoodReads

which of course cites Green and many others in the history of Black-Jewish cooperation in DC.

♫ Soolaimón ♫ — Filosofa’s Word

When I first started doing music posts back in 2018, I said that I would only play songs I like.  A bit of a selfish wench, wasn’t I?  I still pretty much play my old favourites, but I’ve figured out that it gives me just as much joy playing songs that my friends enjoy as […]
