पनाह / Shelter

Kaushal Kishore

आंसुओं की एक बड़ी गंदी आदत है
कि वे कुछ भी छुपाते नहीं किसी से,
इसीलिए पनाह नही मिलती
उन्हें आंखों में भी…

💧💧💧💧

Tears have a very bad habit
of hiding nothing from anyone,
that’s why they don’t find shelter
even in the eyes…

Retro Music 63 — beetleypete

Back to 1934. Seriously retro, and what for me was the golden age of Jazz. This version of a well-known song is from the Roy Fox Band, accompanied by some energetic tap-dancing ladies. Vocals are kept to a minumum, probably because the English accents don’t sound that good on a very American song. Okay, here […]

Historical Photos On Video — beetleypete

This short video (just over five minutes long) contains a real mixture of historical photos, the earliest ones taken in the 1890s. It covers a variety of subjects, from the Depression Era, to WW2 and later. I have not seen any of them previously.

#LanguageLearning for A More Empathetic and Colorful World? — Context, Critical Thinking, Continuous Learning: Project Do Better

This page had colors, which is good, but I bit off a bit more than I could chew at the time with my  Greek, not there yet.  Unfortunately I have had to stop my study of modern Greek, and have all but given up on the earlier idea I had of reading the Septugaint, given […]

The Circus Came To Town — Filosofa’s Word

Folks, there are over 18 months, precisely 565 days left until election day 2024 and already I am SICK AND TIRED of it.  Already, every day there are surveys, polls, projections, not to mention campaign promises and threats, even from those outliers who are about as likely as me to even be their party’s nominee! […]

Time – Silent Songs of Sonsnow

“Time is always moving on; nothing can stop it. We can’t change the past, but we can learn from it to shape the future. Stress on ‘us’ and ‘them’ is a source of conflict. We neglect basic human qualities of kindness and compassion. Let’s work together to create a happier future.”

Will and Its Execution

Kaushal Kishore

I was told about this riddle long ago. You might have also heard or read somewhere, sometime, but yesterday I was reading a will of my colleague’s father which reminded me of this story.

A man had 19 camels. One day he died, but he had made a will which was read after his death. It said,

“After I die, half of my camels be given to my son, a fourth to my daughter, and a fifth to my servant.”

Half of 19 camels meant that one camel had to be cut into two pieces, then that camel would die. And then a quarter of the remaining 18 camels meant four and a half, again a problem.

The relatives and well-wishers were confused and worried about how to distribute the camels. A Good Samaritan was passing by on his camel. When he saw the crowd in heated discussion, he got…
