I USED TO LIVE IN MIAMI
I USED TO LIVE IN MIAMI
I worked in the main library near Biscayne Bay.
I graduated from Miami Jackson High School,, took art and was on the Globe staff. I took Radio Speech and was a dee jay some Saturdays, courtesy of Mr. Fisher our teacher. At one point I got free lunch while a student there. Mrs. Halliday was my homeroom teacher.
The thought of Miami this day, Tuesday, is saddening. I think of the lemmings…the lemmings and of the Pied Piper of Hamlin.

What I Thought I Knew but Didn’t, and What I Knew but Thought I Didn’t Know

There are some days when I wake up and reflect on the present moment, wondering about the things I thought I knew but didn’t and realizing the things I actually knew I was subconsciously unaware that I retained. We learn many lessons in our lifetime, past experiences that sometimes get misplaced in the shuffle of life but somehow turn up later when you push the recall button of knowing, at a time you least expect it.
Like a tree that grows from a sprout to maturity, the more it grows it relies on the process of development to support continued growth. During seasonal changes, some species of trees may lose their leaves during the fall, and become barren during the winter (appearing to be dead but aren’t), but when the season of spring rolls around, these same trees adapt to the changes of time, recharge, and flourish. There are areas…

Colorado farmers have “right to repair” farm equipment
“Right to repair” is a movement to make it easier for owners of anything from computers to combines to be able to fix the darn things, by themselves or the service provider of their choice. Manufacturers have increasingly made it hard for that to happen. They want to protect their intellectual property and get the service business. They’d rather you throw the item away and buy a new one. But repairing is usually more sustainable and it can create local jobs.
But farmers in Colorado’s notoriously turbulent weather can’t always wait for days for a service rep to show up. Hail, rain or simply time could damage their crops.
“Farmers have had to wait three or four weeks to get repairs done to equipment when they can do repairs themselves. That’s just unfathomable,” said Bill Midcap, whose son is a fifth-generation rancher on Colorado’s eastern plains.
So Governor…

♫ Runaway ♫ (Redux)
In a comment on my Charlie Brown post a few nights ago, Keith mentioned Del Shannon’s Runaway, which naturally stuck in my head … Keith has a way of planting those ear worms! I did not think I had played this before, but it turns out I had … twice!!! But not since 2019, so I figure it’s due for a redux! I think my memory is due for a reboot, but that’s a story for another day.
This song was released in 1961 … sixty-two years ago … I was ten years old. Wow.
A lot of Shannon’s songs were about broken relationships. He once said he wrote the words to this about himself because he was forever running away from relationships. The song came about, according to Shannon, thusly …
