Má índole – Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Walk facing the sun – Stella, oh, Stella

… What of the cripple who hates dancers?
What of the ox who loves his yoke and deems the elk and deer of the forest stray and vagrant things?
What of the old serpent who cannot shed his skin, and calls all others naked and shameless?
And of him who comes early to the wedding-feast and when over-fed and tires goes his way saying that all feasts are violation and all feasters lawbreakers?
What shall I say of these save that they too stand in the sunlight, but with their backs to the sun?
They see only their shadows, and their shadows are their laws.
And what is the sun to them but a caster of shadows?
And what is it to acknowledge the laws but to stoop down and trace their shadows upon the earth?
But you who walk facing the sun, what images drawn on the earth can hold you?
– Khalil Gibran, excerpt from the book “The Prophet”: on laws.

Wenn unser Weg einer der universellen Liebe ist, dann brauchen wir keine Gesetze.

For all his obsession with innovation, Peter Thiel has some stone-age views | Arwa Mahdawi | The Guardian

For all his obsession with innovation, Thiel has some stone-age views on the world. He doesn’t seem completely sold on the whole women-having-rights thing, for example. In 2009, for example, he published an essay lamenting that women being given the right to vote had dealt a blow to libertarianism. His exact words: “Since 1920, the vast increase in welfare beneficiaries and the extension of the franchise to women – two constituencies that are notoriously tough for libertarians – have rendered the notion of ‘capitalist democracy’ into an oxymoron.”

Thiel also isn’t a fan of diversity initiatives, which he has called “very evil and very silly”. This guy, let me remind you, is a key player in technology and one of the first outside investors in Facebook. With people like him at the helm, is it any wonder social media has such a massive misogyny and racism problem?

‘She’s part of the plan’: Kamala Harris makes critical pitch as South Carolina primary kicks off | US elections 2024 | The Guardian

Biden did visit the Palmetto state last weekend but it was Harris who came to Orangeburg on Friday, meeting faith leaders to discuss issues such as gun violence, prescription drug prices, student debt forgiveness and national unity. She then spoke in a balmy open-air courtyard at South Carolina’s only public historically black college and university (HBCU).

The trip signalled that, despite a tenure clouded by negative headlines and approval rating that often lags behind Biden’s, Harris remains critical to the president’s re-election campaign because of her ability to galvanise Black voters and her sharp messaging on abortion rights, a potentially decisive issue. Many Democrats regard her as an asset rather than a liability.

People cheer as Kamala Harris arrives to speak at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg during a campaign event on 2 February.

Palestine Red Crescent Society calls for humanitarian corridor to evacuate Khan Younis hospital – Egypt Independent

The hospital in southern Gaza has been besieged for 12 consecutive days, enduring “relentless bombing and direct gunfire” in the surrounding area, PRCS said in a news release.

PRCS said four people were killed Friday, including the director of the Youth and Volunteers Department, Hadiya Hamad. It claimed six others were injured when Israeli forces fired at the organization’s headquarters, which is sheltering thousands of displaced people.

Gaza aid falters at Ouga as Israeli settlers close the crossing – Egypt Independent

Since the start of sending humanitarian aid to Gaza on October 21, Israel has continually placed obstacles.

Amongst these is the requirement that aid be sent first from Rafah border crossing to Ouga commercial crossing between Egypt and Israel to be examined and inspected, and then sent to the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing again – a journey that takes about 100 kilometers.
