Felicidade – Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Biden blames Putin for Navalny’s death as Republican ‘apologists’ condemned [by fellow Republicans] | Alexei Navalny | The Guardian

Meanwhile some leading Republican politicians also decried Navalny’s death, while pointing the finger at some in their own party for appearing to appease the Russian leader.

“There is no room in the Republican Party for apologists for Putin. RIP Alexey Navalny,” wrote the former vice-president Mike Pence on social media.

Pence added: “Putin is a war criminal and only understands strength”, and urged Congress to “set aside the politics of the moment” and to pass legislation supporting aid to Ukraine.

The North Carolina senator Thom Tillis also criticized Republicans who have expressed qualified sympathies for the Russian president.

“Navalny laid down his life fighting for the freedom of the country he loved,” Tillis said.

“Putin is a murderous, paranoid dictator. History will not be kind to those in America who make apologies for Putin and praise Russian autocracy. Nor will history be kind to America’s leaders who stay silent because they fear backlash from online pundits.”

Both men were apparently referring to members of the Republican party who have in recent weeks slowed the passage of a $60bn military aid package to Ukraine.

Last week, the Republican senator Ron Johnson was apparently moved to vote against the aid after watching Vladimir Putin’s interview with Tucker Carlson. Johnson said that while Putin “is a war criminal [who is] obviously not telling you the whole truth”, his sit-down with the former Fox News host was “very interesting”, and that “an awful lot of what Vladimir Putin said was right … accurate and obvious”.

Others, including the Republican congressman Clay Higgins of Louisiana, a House Freedom caucus member, have recently expressed open admiration for the Russian president.

“Putin is a studied man of resolute spirit, and he always comes across as very sincere in his beliefs. You come away from a conversation with him thinking ‘I may not believe what he says, but I know he believes what he says,’” Higgins has said.

Yulia Navalnaya takes stage at Munich meeting after news of husband’s death

A geopolitical conference turned deeply personal on Friday as senior officials from around the globe heard first-hand from Alexei Navalny’s wife hours after news broke of his reported death.

Yulia Navalnaya was in Germany for the Munich security conference, which brings together national leaders, foreign ministers and experts, when Russia’s prison service announced that Navalny had died in jail.

As officials at the conference were taking in the news, Navalnaya unexpectedly took to the stage, addressing a crowd of politicians and diplomats just after the US vice-president, Kamala Harris.

Standing at a podium usually reserved for senior politicians, Navalnaya said: “I thought: should I stand here before you or should I go back to my children? And then I thought: what would have Alexei done in my place? And I’m sure that he would have been standing here on this stage.”

It was an unusually emotional and personal moment at an event where prominent figures deliver often scripted political messages and participants are usually in a rush to get to their next appointment…

Sprinkled with Seeds, Rooted in Love | From Behind the Pen

When I glanced at the thoughts I posted this week, I found my posts were ironically surrounded by the theme of “love.” The irony in this theme was that Valentine’s Day fell in the middle of the week, but this week’s posts weren’t planned or designed to fit into the celebration of Valentine’s Day.

I watch commercials advertising dating apps and ideas for the perfect Valentine’s gift, portraying a perfection in matchmaking to find true love that may be based on something that might resemble love but really isn’t.  All too often I know these gifts and dinners are overpriced and I would appreciate them better when I least expect a gift of caring. Perhaps it’s the idea of the passion we think love brings. Or is that notion based on a fantasy sprinkled with “lust dust?”

There is something about how love shoots like lasers and penetrates the hearts and souls of individuals, couples, and groups of people fighting to keep love alive without being suffocated by the fakery of superficial love. I see evidence of love being smothered by the devastation of carelessness, senselessness, bitterness, envy, and hatred. But at the same time, I see love rooted in groundedness, resilience, and growing majestically in fertilized fields of enduring strength.

It’s hard to give something if you don’t possess it. Even when we look inward to ignite self-love, we must remember that this is not the same as narcissism, but it is a sprout growing into trees nurtured from seeds of love planted in rich soil. Sprinkle seeds of love wherever you go today. Love, true love is sincere and deep. Say it and show it like you mean it.
