OK, so my mind, body, circadian rhythm, and spirit have not caught up since we officially sprang ahead one hour for Daylight Saving Time yesterday. Give me by the end of the week and let me reassess the situation to see if I am teetering back to some sense of normalcy. But are we really saving daylight or even an hour? Look, the older I get, and yeah I know I am being grumpy about this but I am finding it harder to adjust to these time changes which really don’t change my time.
This is how I see rolling with something I’ve been adjusting to all my life. It’s not what I am doing or need to do based on the adjustment of time ticking on a clock, but it’s what I do and how effective I am with the time of life I’ve been given.
I was watching some news segments prior to this recent time adjustment and they warned about the increase in vehicle accidents that occur right after Daylight Saving Time goes into effect. Oh, now how reassuring is that? Should I stay off of the roads for a couple of weeks? People are falling asleep behind the wheel under normal conditions and studies of people driving under the influence of drowsiness and becoming involved in some fatal accidents that could be prevented are increasing and more alarming.
Feeling fatigued or lethargic throughout the day, yawning frequently, and feeling irritable aren’t just signs resulting from a time change. Sleep deprivation is when you aren’t sleeping enough, or you aren’t getting good, quality sleep. I think all of us are aware of the disruption in many facets of our lives which is affected by sleep deprivation. Many people take naps (just like children do) throughout the day to recharge their batteries. This could be our saving grace and is definitely a call to make some crucial lifestyle changes.
Even though this time change may make you feel like you are experiencing jet lag, find the time to step away from your busyness (some say that’s easier said than done) because it is critical and a matter of life and death if you fail to do so. Low energy and motivation, anxiousness, stress, depression, making silly mistakes, and even paranoia are prime indicators that a ‘time out’ for a little sleep is definitely needed.

We are not the thoughts we have or the instincts. We are the Decisions we make! One more lesson learnt!
It took me some good amount of time to understand this. For example, going near the edge of a balcony fence we do jokingly think about jumping off..like we have all thought about it atleast once..does that make us suicidal?
Or does the thought of smashing people’s head on the wall for not minding their own business make us violent? No! In reality we just move on with a smile ain’t it?
It’s the choice of thoughts we act upon makes us who we are. This has liberated me mentally from feeling like a bad person.

Did you know that you do not need to buy the commercial pectin in order to get your homemade jams, jellies or desserts to gel? Fruit such as apples and citrus fruits are naturally high in pectin but fruits such as berries are not.
How do you remedy the lack of pectin when you need it for jam, jelly and desserts made with berries low in pectin? Make homemade liquid pectin…

Twee Muizen: A couple of weeks ago we were painting the Broto town hall house in the Aragonese Pyrenees. In the mural we represent the strength of the women of the place surrounded by native fauna. Thanks again to the Asalto ORG team for this amazing experience

“In our modern society everything seems geared to material development, even our systems of education. As a result we no longer pay sufficient attention to our inner values, which leads to mental unrest. In order to address this imbalance we need to pay more attention to our minds.”
