Louisiana Republicans vote to end lunch breaks for child workers – (Me: exploit young workers is A-OK for GOP)
Some GOP officials are taking that directive quite seriously — to the point that they’re advancing a plan to scrap requirements for lunch breaks for child workers.
According to the local report, the proposal is being championed by Republican state Rep. Roger Wilder, who owns some smoothie franchises across the region, and who said many of his child employees want to work without lunch breaks.
“The wording is ‘We’re here to harm children.’ Give me a break,” he said. “These are young adults.”
For the record, the kids might very well be young, but they’re minors, not adults.

Winnie Sangma misses posting videos on TikTok and earning a bit of money. But after the ban, he migrated to Instagram and now has 15,000 followers. The process, for the most part, has been relatively painless.
“I have built up followers on Instagram too, and I am making money from it, but the experience isn’t like how it used to be on TikTok,” he said.
Rajib Dutta, a frequent scroller on TikTok, also switched to Instagram after the ban. “It wasn’t really a big deal,” he said…

Rather than retire, this over-50 caregiver bootstrapped a business to help older adults
“My mother and father both had a chronic falling problem,” the former tech worker said in a phone interview. “It got to the point where in one four- or six-week period, I had to go to my mother’s house five times. The fire department went a sixth.”

Powell’s obese father suffered from osteoarthritis in his knees. Consequently, his knee would frequently go out, so he fell often and, at over 300 pounds, it was very difficult to get him off the floor.
The Essence of Humanity – Kaushal Kishore

Ahead, a car crawled like a turtle, ignoring Mohan’s persistent honking. Just as he was on the brink of losing his cool when he spotted a small sticker on the car’s rear:
“Physically challenged; Please be patient.”
Instantly, calm washed over him. He eased off the gas and even felt a sense of protectiveness towards the car and its driver. Though he arrived home a tad late, it didn’t bother him; he felt content knowing he’d acted positively.
Yet, the incident sparked varied reflections among onlookers:
Person 1:
Would Mohan have been patient, if there was no sticker on the car? Why do someone need stickers for others to be patient? Is it necessary for needy people to have labels pasted on their foreheads?
Person 2:
Everyone fights unseen battles. What is the harm in having labels like –
Lost my job,
Fighting cancer,
Going through a bad divorce,
Suffering emotional abuse,
Suffering domestic abuse,
Lost a loved one,
Feeling worthless,
Financially broken,
….and more like these?
Person 3:
As humans, let’s be patient, kind, and compassionate. Respect the invisible labels that shape others’ lives.
Person 4:
Patience yields sweet fruit, benefiting both oneself and others. A little sympathy goes a long way in healing unseen wounds.
Person 5:
Individuals with physical challenges should drive courteously, yielding to traffic. It’s unreasonable to expect the world to adjust to one’s pace.
Someone resembling Mohan could be nearby, along with others akin to the five individuals previously mentioned. Each person holds their own perspectives and mindsets. We need not share identical views to show kindness.
Yet, despite our diverse opinions, we are all part of the human race. Humanity’s essence lies in our capacity to peacefully coexist amidst differing beliefs. Understanding others’ hardships nurtures empathy, the essence of humanity.
