diary of occupation : horror knocking the doors

Madre de dos, what are the Israeli’s thinking – those keeping silent about those killing in their name!

One of the boys that were dragged yesterday is Abdel Nour’s friend and our neighbor Shafe’ .
The horror of this all is just knocking every door. I talked to his mother, Rana , a beautiful soul who received my call with calmness that I wasn’t able to comprehend . Palestinian mothers are watching their children killed, dragged, lynched, detained, beaten , shot, burnt right in-fornt of their eyes and they are forced to watch and pray for a miracle that can only come down from a God . A miracle of patience , resilience ,and compassion .
May our children be in the real mercy of God !!!!!

Serena Williams steps up pace as she dismantles Annika Beck in style | Sport | The Guardian

Against Williams – the second oldest woman in the draw behind her sister Venus – she looked as though she was fighting in the wrong weight division. Williams sent down one serve at 123mph and her average first serve was well over 100mph in both sets; Beck’s average speed in the two sets was 86 and 88mph, about the same as Williams’s second serve. Nor did Beck’s ground strokes have the muscle to trouble her opponent.

Seven Year Itch

The one constant in life is that everything changes.  Everything.  Even the cells in your body, your skin, your bones, your blood — many parts of you renew themselves every seven years.  You are not the person you were seven years ago. You will no longer be the person you are now, seven years down the road.

That being the case, consider yourself a work-in-progress. You will always be on the verge – of something wonderful, something terrible, something challenging, something different.  And that’s what makes this life both harrowing and heartbreaking. Constant change.

Playing the Fool.  Sometimes.

When I roll the wheel back and look for myself seven years ago, I see someone flattened with grief and uncertainty. My life was in shambles. I was indebted and…

I leave my heart

The month’s Utabukuro (poembag) prompt by Kristjaan at Chevrefeuille’s Carpe Diem asks us to take a favorite haiku (or tanka),  explain why you chose it, and write a haiku (or tanka) inspired by the first.

I was first introduced (at 8) to Issa and haiku. Though we didn’t have cherry blossoms where I lived, we created cherry trees on paper with india ink and pink tissue paper.  Haiku always signified art and cherry blossoms seem to sing/dance haiku as they tease and fly.

Florida Jury Finds Former Chilean Officer Liable in ’73 Killing – The New York Times

Four decades after the bullet-riddled body of the Chilean folk singer Víctor Jara was discovered in the mayhem of the military coup that upended his country, Mr. Jara’s family found some measure of justice on Monday in a Florida courtroom.A federal jury in Orlando concluded that a former Chilean Army officer who had emigrated to the United States and worked as a short-order cook was liable for the torture and extrajudicial killing of Mr. Jara at the Chilean sports stadium where he was held after the 1973 coup that brought Gen. Augusto Pinochet to power.
