Egypt’s presidential campaign has formally started, and political talk shows have become the new frontier for candidates Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Hamdeen Sabahi to flex their muscles and charm the public. Although it’s hard to assess the real impact of these talk show interviews on viewers, they have clearly highlighted crucial aspects of the candidates’ manifestoes, personalities and styles. Contrary to earlier assumptions, the performance of both candidates in TV interviews has changed the perceptions of some and raised alarm bells for others. Overall, they have increased the prospect of a competitive election. Many who considered Sabahi’s candidacy a meaningless exercise are now asking themselves whether he can in fact gain enough support. However, a question mark hangs over the percentage of votes Sabahi can win.

In Egypt’s fluid and occasionally stormy political scene, the benchmark…

Rancher Cliven Bundy’s grazing debt has no equal among Oregon cattlemen | OregonLive.com

Past-due bills owed by cattlemen for grazing on Oregon’s federal lands aren’t enough to cover the price of a new pick-up truck.

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management said that as of late April, 45 cattlemen owed a collective $18,759. And most of that is barely past due, with just two ranchers leaving their bills unpaid 60 days or more, considered a truly delinquent account in private business.

The U. S. Forest Service reported an even better record from the 400 permit holders using national forests to feed their cattle. No one is past due with their fees, the agency reported.

The Oregon experience stands in stark contrast to the Nevada rancher who surely is the nation’s most infamous deadbeat rancher. Cliven Bundy, whose white hot clash with the BLM recently made national headlines, owes the federal government more than a $1 million for grazing.

UKIP deputy leader calls for end of NHS

Pride's Purge

(not satire – it’s the UKIP!)

There are a lot of people intending to vote UKIP at the local and European elections this month.

I wonder how many of them are aware that UKIP are openly calling for the end of the NHS?

Here is a letter from Paul Nuttall the deputy leader of UKIP – posted on his own website –  saying the NHS is so costly and inefficient that its very existence should be called into question:

UKIP NHS

.

UKIP are not a maverick, anti-establishment, libertarian party. They are a bunch of right-wing, authoritarian Thatcherites – led by a public school educated ex-banker – who don’t like foreigners or homosexuals much.

And they’d sell-off the NHS quicker than the present government given half a chance.

Outrage after supermarkets admit meat on sale was alive before being killed

Pride's Purge

(satire?)

DAILY MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

Leading retailers have sparked outrage from consumers after they admitted meat was being sold in supermarkets which originated from living animals.

A huge debate was sparked recently when it emerged that 185 Subway outlets in the UK and Ireland had decided to sell meat from animals which had actually been alive before they were killed without informing their customers.

Several restaurant chains, including KFC, Domino’s Pizza, Nando’s and Pizza Express also sell meat which was alive – including chicken which they admitted had originated from the bodies of live chickens – in some or all of their stores.

And in a shocking revelation, the Daily Mail can reveal that approximately 100 per cent of New Zealand lamb in supermarkets comes from baby sheep which had been killed in abattoirs in New Zealand.

Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Waitrose and Marks & Spencer also have been forced to admit that tinned tuna on sale in their…

The Cycle of Motherhood

Night Owl Poetry - Dorinda Duclos

Photo Credit: www.geneviveangela.com Photo Credit: http://www.geneviveangela.com

A baby cries in the night
A hand gently touches her
A mother’s soothing voice
Comforting, wiping away the tears

A child cries in the night
A mother’s soothing voice
Quieting the nightmare
Comforting, chasing away the fears

A woman cries in the night
Her mother’s soothing voice
Calming and reassuring
Comforting, holding her near

A baby cries in the night
A mother’s soothing voice
A grandmother’s loving touch
As the cycle begins again
