Fish fuel farm: Bushwick market will boast ‘aquaponic’ garden • The Brooklyn Paper.
An aquaponic system filters waste from freshwater fish — think tilapia, goldfish, or koi — using a bacteria that converts ammonia to nitrates: plants’ favorite food.
“All you have to do is feed the fish high-quality food and it does the rest itself,” said Amu.
Mexican editor Adela Navarro makes Foreign Policy’s 100 Global Thinkers list | Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas
Mexican journalist Adela Navarro was the only person from Latin America to make Foreign Policy magazine’s 100 Global Thinkers. The magazine highlights Navarro for her investigative reporting on organized crime and corruption in Mexico despite the mounting violence against journalists in the country.
In 2012 alone, there have been seven killed journalists in Mexico, making it the third most dangerous country in the world for journalists after Somalia and Syria, according to the International Press Institute. Foreign Policy reports that nearly 40 journalists have been killed or disappeared during Mexican President Felipe Calderón’s six-year term in office. In 2006, Calderón launched a major offensive against organized crime in the country.
Navarro became the editor of the Tijuana-based weekly Zeta after her predecessors Héctor Félix Miranda and Francisco Ortiz Franco were killed in 1988 and 2004, respectively. “Navarro’s magazine practices a kind of journalism both essential and extremely dangerous — she’s following the money,” Foreign Policy said.
Navarro, also named one of the 150 most courageous women in the world, always travels with bodyguards to protect her so she can keep “asking the right questions,” according to Foreign Policy.
The journalist was ranked at number 76 on the list for breaking with to self-censorship that pervades Mexican journalism as a form of protection against reprisals, reported BBC Mundo.
(not satire – it’s David Cameron!)
Apparently, after paying out nearly half a billion quid (so far) to various dodgy people like Emma Harrison from A4e to find unemployed people jobs which don’t exist – the companies only succeeded in 3,5% of cases. And most of those were probably people who found the work themselves anyway.
This comes after other scandals where the government has paid out huge amounts of taxpayers money to other dodgy people at the head of other dodgy private firms to either do very little – or completely f**k up what they were paid to do – so the government has to step in and clean up the mess they created in the first place with even more taxpayers’ money.
I’m talking about cases like these:

Israeli bus segregation plans blatant racism | Maan News Agency
Israeli human rights organization BTselem on Tuesday condemned the Israeli transport ministrys plans for segregated bus lines for Palestinians and Israelis. Israeli police have begun removing Palestinian passengers from buses at the request of Jewish settlers, the Israeli daily Haaretz reported Tuesday. An army reservist told Haaretz that Israeli police stationed near Salfit had ordered Palestinians off buses multiple times, leaving them to walk several miles and then catch taxis home.”The attempt at bus segregation is appalling, and the current arguments about security needs and overcrowding must not be allowed to camouflage the blatant racism of the demand to remove Palestinians from buses,” BTselem executive director Jessica Montell said in a statement.Settlement mayor Ron Nachman is working with the Israeli army, police and transport ministry to stop Palestinians boarding buses that go to Ariel, he wrote on his Facebook page.”All of them are working on this problem, and we hope that they will soon find a solution to the reality that is bothering our people,” he wrote.Responding to the post, one commenter wrote “finally you remembered that we have buses filled with Arabs?” while others commented that Palestinians were “terrorists” and “monkeys.”
