“They all look alike” Defense does not cut it with Jordan! Israel ‘regrets’ fatal shooting of Jordan judge | Maan News Agency

Israel expressed regret on Tuesday over the fatal shooting of a Jordanian-Palestinian judge by Israeli troops at a West Bank border crossing, a statement from the premier’s office said.

“Israel regrets the death of Judge Raed Zeiter yesterday (Monday) at the King Hussein (Allenby) bridge and expresses its sympathies to the people and government of Jordan,” the statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said.

The shooting, which took place on Monday morning, sparked the fury of both Jordan and the Palestinians, with protesters in Amman demanding the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador and the abrogation of the two countries’ 1994 peace treaty.

Racists to Party Tonight at CPAC | Hatewatch

White nationalists attending the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) are planning to gather discretely this evening at a steak house in the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center near Washington, DC, which is playing host to the conference. The gathering is sponsored by  the National Policy Institute (NPI), a white nationalist “think tank” whose mission is to “elevate the consciousness of whites, ensure our biological and cultural continuity, and protect our civil rights.” The institute studies the so-called “consequences of the ongoing influx that non-Western populations pose to our national identity.”

NPI’s Richard Spencer privately announced the gathering and guest of honor, Jared Taylor, editor of the white nationalist magazine American Renaissance. Taylor argued in those pages that “Blacks and whites are different. When blacks are left entirely to their own devices, Western civilization — any kind of civilization — disappears.” T

The Senate thinks they’ve done enough to stop military rape

What makes this particularly frustrating is that the bill received more votes for it (55) than against it (45). But it fell five votes shy of the 60 votes needed to override a fillibuster. And so, on March 6, 2014, the a bill that would have dared to challenge the status quo and actually advocate for survivors of sexual assault, was shut down by a procedural vote that stopped it from even moving to the senate floor.

Night patrols

That’s led to the hasty organization of night patrols and watch posts of unarmed men looking to prevent escalation or inter-ethnic conflict. After sunset, groups of men stand at crossroads and community halls, peering uneasily into the darkness.

At one such post, a dozen men are smoking furtively and chewing sunflower seeds. They aren’t stopping cars, rather noting the comings and goings of unfamiliar vehicles and keeping in touch with each other by phone and text message.

“We have no authority to check documents, we can only call each other from the posts or call the head office to follow unknown vehicles or we can call the police,” said Zamir Khaybulaev, 60, head of the local Mejlis.

The Tartars only returned to Crimea from the 1970’s onwards

At a second post, volunteer Ernest Bekirov is philosophical. He says Crimea’s Tatars have weathered many hardships and said he hoped this crisis would pass soon.

A wish for peace

“We just want peace, happiness and to provide for our children and have a comfortable life in our native land,” the soft-spoken 48 year old said. “We don’t want a war – all this is coming from higher authorities.”

U.S. Plans to Speed Poultry Slaughtering, Cut Inspections to please Tyson’s bank account- Inter Press Service

The U.S. government is in the final stages of weighing approval for an overhaul of regulations governing the country’s poultry industry that would see processing speeds increase substantially even while responsibility for oversight would be largely given over to plant employees.

The plan, which was originally floated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) two years ago, is currently slated to be finalised by regulators next month. Yet opposition has been heating up from lawmakers as well as labour, public health and consumer advocacy groups.

On Thursday, over 100 such groups and businesses delivered a letter, along with nearly 220,000 petitions, to President Barack Obama, asking that the proposal be withdrawn.

Want power – so jump on anti-gay bandwagon, then run people’s lives! allAfrica.com: Kenya: Anti-Gay Groups in Campaign to ‘Prevent Sodom’

Several lobby groups have launched a campaign against homosexuality. They want the government to declare it a crime. The groups yesterday kicked off the ‘Zuia Sodom Kabisa’ (Prevent Sodom Completely) petition to collect a million signatures against homosexuality in Kenya.

The groups include the Save Our Men Initiative, Maendeleo ya Wanaume, the Kikuyu Council of Elders, religious groups and professionals. “The support the homosexual community is getting from Western governments like the Netherlands, USA and Germany has given homosexuals boldness that borders on intimidation for the few voices of reason that are standing against their onslaught,” said Peter Munga, the chairman of Mandate Initiative.

Munga said the “vocal and incessant support” homosexuals are getting from US President Barack Obama is worrying. Save Our Men’s Jasiel Njau said Uganda has been threatened with Western aid cuts for outlawing homosexuality “based on scientific-cultural facts and sound moral considerations”.

Cow Porno in Idaho, now protected? And Abuse of Cows a Sacred Right? Idaho Governor Signs Bill Banning Dairy Spying

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter signed a bill Friday that imposes jail time and fines against people who secretly film animal abuse at Idaho’s agricultural facilities.

Otter inked the new law swiftly, just two days after it cleared its final legislative hurdle in the House.

The bill came in response to videos released by Los Angeles-based vegetarian and animal rights group Mercy for Animals showing workers at Bettencourt Dairy beating, stomping, dragging and sexually abusing cows in 2012.

Idaho’s $2.5 billion dairy industry complained the group used its videos not to curb abuse, but to unfairly hurt Bettencourt’s business. Bettencourt operates dairies at numerous locations that include more than 60,000 cows and is one of the largest dairy companies in the U.S.

Jewish groups tour Al-Aqsa Mosque compound | Maan News Agency

Worshipers shouted “God is Great” in Arabic while the groups toured the compound and heated arguments were reported.

Yehuda Glick is an American-born Israeli who has been banned in the past by Israeli authorities from entering the compound due to provocations while on the site. He is the chairman of the controversial Temple Mount Heritage Fund.

Critics charge that the Temple Mount Heritage Fund leads Jewish tours to the site with the intention of leading Jewish prayer there — currently banned under Israeli agreements — and encouraging Jews to destroy the Al-Aqsa mosque and build a Jewish temple there.

“Act of Killing” Director Hopes U.S. Will Admit Genocide Role – Inter Press Service

“I was afraid at first, but after I got over that fear I realised that everyone I interviewed was boastful about even the most horrible details of the killings, which they described with smiles on their faces,” he said.

In the eight years that it took Oppenheimer to complete “The Act of Killing”, which was executive produced by internationally known directors Werner Herzog and Errol Morris, he only discovered his main character, Anwar Congo — the founder of a right-wing paramilitary organisation that grew out of the death squads — in the final year of filming.

Congo, who describes torturing and murdering suspected communists “like we were killing happily,” acts as though he is the director of the documentary as he collaborates with friends and colleagues to recreate scenes from his memory.

“I felt his pain was close to the surface, so I lingered on him,” said Oppenheimer.

But while Congo seems haunted by his past, especially by a recurring nightmare of a severed head with eyes he failed to close staring at him, he ultimately reverts to the excuse that he was just following orders.
